The new album from Tech N9ne, Collabos: Misery Loves Kompany is due in stores on July 17th. Pre-Orders of the new album are generating a great deal of buzz and copies are being reserved by fans around the world! In accordance with the demand to hear a little more, Strange Music has now authorized an internet only sampler of the new album!
“We are working hard to stay within the framework of the new media movement”, says Eric Hawke, Marketing Director for Strange Music. “Times are changing and we need to make sure that people can put this on their Ipods and Mp3 players today and not have to wait to rip it.”
Travis O’Guin states; “We need to make sure that the fans have a chance to listen and hear as much as possible, this is truly a dope album.” “We also want to keep costs down across the board; we are letting people download this sampler instead of pressing up mass copies and getting them on the streets. With the cost of fuel and especially the rising cost of packaging, we thought it would be better and more cost effective to saturate the internet with the sampler and allow the fans to spread the word.” “We can then pass the savings on to them with our seasonal merchandise sales and occasional giveaways.”
The demand online for more of the music from MLK is certainly there. After only two weeks on myspace, the first track from the new album has already generated over a quarter million plays! The video announcing the new album has seen over 20,000 plays as well.
