I don't know about the Bay Area, but up here non-union laborers starting out make around 17 and a carpenters aprentice makes around 22.
If you have any type of carpentry/painting/etc skills you can get around 30, or if you do plumbing/electrical/HVAC/elevators you can get well passed 30.
my only issue is i dont have valid license right now, does anyone know if tech jobs or even the electrician thing requires one? cause im seriously in need of a new line of work
This has a lot of truth. Civilian jobs don't pay shit unless u got a degree & a lot of them jobs don't start off with "blow u away salary" for a a degree. County/State/City jobs pay good but you'll be waiting like a mothafucka for that job but once u get in its worth the wait. Entry level jobs pay crap most of the time.

There's some high starting pay unions out there and for the most part all of them have great benefits once you get through your probationary period. If you have an electrical background I'd recommend mine or the IBEW. There's also the Plumbers and Pipefitters union and the United Steelworkers which have great benefits and starting pay. There's a lot of them out there you just have to look. Check www.unions.org for more info or just google unions and you'll get some results.
No problem. If you're serious, I'd recommend looking into them and contacting the ones that interest you. From personal experience, It's a good way to make a living.
id say find an apprenticeship with an electrician.. they pay real good.. i saw an apprentice ship it was like 13.50 an hour, and after you really know your shit.. you can make anywhere from 17-23 an hour. I was gonna do it but ive got school and work it wouldnt be possible for fulltime.
yea electrical is a good choice but for no education u can do brick laying... not fun but good pay.. dont no how much down there but i know sum one up here that was doing it and got started off $17 bucks an hour.. shit up here u can be ready to work and literally walk onto a construction site and get paid like 15 bucks and hour to like labour n shit.. not bad.. look into sum trades.. electrical is good again where i am at tehy pay big.. some places with no exp. start $14/hr sum places with 1 yr exp. start $30.50.. so just pick waht u want..
ppl have mentioned this in here but " apprentice ship program" is the best choice i ever made.. started when i wasnt even done high school.. they found me a job.. trained me ect.. and gave me $2000 to go to college.. but what i was doing is u work.. then u go to school for like 2 months then work another yr then school.. then u can leave if u want .. and work sum where else or open ur own company..

For my union it was $25 monthly while a probationary. Then when I got initiated it was $600 to become a full fledged member and now I pay about $140 for quarterly dues. Considering my pay, it's really not that bad. The only thing that hurt the wallet was the $600 but it was still less than a weeks paycheck so it wasn't too bad. The only fee they asked for before I started working was $25 which goes towards your first month of union dues.
if u want a basic warehouse job that starts off at 15- 16 go to fremont and hit up Motor Cargo (its a shipping dock)....otherwise you shoulpd get into a trade bro..real talk...go electrician and be in the strongest union in america and best paid!
Me? Connections. I know a guy that's been working there for year, he's cattin off though, he ain't called me yet. I don't know about the license thing though.
