In response to comments made by Frederic Rouzaud, the managing director of Louis Roderer Cristal, Jay-Z and his upscale sports lounge, The 40/40 Club, have announced that they will no longer be serving Cristal Champagne and Jay-Z will further help lead the boycott against Cristal Champagne in the world of hip-hop.
Despite loyal patronage by Jay-Z, his clientele, and the entire hip-hop community, Rouzaud said in a special edition of The Economist magazine that the company observes its association with the rap world with "curiosity and serenity." Even though Jay and other rappers continually support the brand by including Cristal in their lyrics, as Jay did in his number 1 hit "Hard Knock Life," Rouzaud has labeled the name-checks as "unwelcome attention."

"It has come to my attention that the managing director of Cristal, Frederic Rouzaud views the 'hip-hop' culture as "unwelcome attention." I view his comments as racist and will no longer support any of his products through any of my various brands including The 40/40 Club nor in my personal life," said Jay-Z.

Just as Rouzaud stated, "I'm sure Dom Perignon or Krug would be delighted to have their business," Jay-Z and the 40/40 Club will now be serving only Krug and Dom Perignon to their customers seeking high end champagne products.

who cares.

it's not like his clothing company isn't exploiting child labor and working people in sweatshops or that his diamonds aren't funding some right wing death squads over in africa

this is some wanna be rich people getting upset that they'll never attain the status of the generationally entrenched rich and the only way they know how to do anything about it, is to cry about how they shit themselves.

I think that its bullshit personally. Yeah Jay Z is a fag and his diamonds fund wars and his clothes fuck little kids over, but rappers have been making Cristal a lot of money for a long time.

This is a prime case of a French person being too damn good for his customers. I'd appreciate the fuck out of the hip hop community for all the free advertising, and instead he calls it unwelcome attention. Anybody who can afford to pay for a bottle of Cristal ought to be appreciated as a customer, and if that guy is gonna basically turn his back on the rap community, then its about time the rap community turns their back on him.

i could care less if jay-z caught feelings because his nuevo-rich ass isn't accepted in the elitist club. so what if the owners of crystal don't respect the people that make them money? you think jay-z respects any of us?

i say we boycott jay-z until Frederic Rouzaud apologizes to Jay-z, and Jay-z apologies to all of us.

maybe he should lead a boycott of something that applies to real life people.

i wonder if Jay-Z is a big enough factor to affect Cristal's income. or how much hip hop had an affect on Cristal.
Cristal Champagne was founded by Louis Roederer who was born in Alsace. He joined the Champagne winery in the late 1820's. By the time Roederer died, he was among the top three in exports to the United States

i dont think cristal needs any rapper to survive
