Well, Ive been in Japan for a 2 years now and Ive been interested in japanese west coast . The fact is we can call all the artists listed below imitators (ものまね) since they don't have any creativity but the fact is, they can make some tight productions right here.

i think Dan da automator is japanese?
equipto is half japanese.

i dont know sh1t about japanese folks in the hiphop scene, but i heard they do it hardcore out in japan.

japanese people are weird. not to mention, they produce the #1 suicide rate in the world.

there's a lot of asians in the hiphop scene, fresh kid ice from 2 live crew, dan the automator, the mountain brothers, lyrics born, key kool, a whole bunch of dj's, i think rhythmx from the bay is asian. de la soul had some dudes rapping in japanese off their buhloone mind state cd that was pretty cool. i'm sure there's tons more. but i've never heard them from japan except the one's off de la's album. seems mad corny though when they're imitating gangsters

^^^
I read an interview of DJ Krush maybe one year earlier and he was saying that he used to hang with Yakusas when he was younger and not really involved in music like today.
Don't know the whole story but he produced some tight tracks!

only real gangstaz is the Yakuza and they aint rappin......
They rappin in fact and most of the artists (Phobia of thug,GDX,ssg) are yakuza (Chinpira in fact which is the lowest class of yakuzas).

I agree with a lot of points, it's corny maybe to copy american gang culture, acting like gangstaz and shit but to be honest, that's because Japanese people are not originals and they need to find inspiration else where.

PS : The folks in my sig are friends

i highly doubt they are REAL yakuza....im talkin about them older cats in business suits that run organized crime not some lil kids that wanna be down.....im sure the real yakuza wouldnt approve of them rapping especially tryin to act like somethin their not in the music.....
