shit mane I got the ravens winning the afc north pittsburgh lost alot of key players to free agencey(sp) the bengels have quaterback issues with carson palmer who know when he will be ready. Shit cleveland is a young team with a young quater back in charlie Fry with no good running back

naw I just like football I mean look at the teams roster from last year to this year the steelers lost alot to FA, and like I said the bengels have quaterback issues with carson palmer their 2nd string qb is anthony wright of all people

Lets see does Pitt still have Ben and Ward? YES. Do they still have the players in place for a good defense? YES.

A hurt but young Carson Palmer vs a hurt and OLD McNair.....give me Palmer.

D Mason & Mark Clayton, Chad Johnson & TJ Houshmandzadeh, Hines Ward & Cedrick Wilson? Again Baltimore not the top pick.

Baltimore will be improved but they will still finish 3rd.

First, let me say John Clayton is an idiot.

Okay...that being said, Baltimore has a lot more to worry about than who is playing QB.

Here are a couple of Ravens fans views that I agree with.

As an unbiased Ravens fan: This pickup does not help us all that much.

Our biggest holes are on the lines. Our offensive line was miserable last year. If that doesn't improve (and I didn't see any noticeable attempts to fix it this offseason) then we could have Peyton Manning and it wouldn't matter. McNair will be rump roast back there. Jamal will be, too, though I've heard he's in much better shape this offseason than last (but that doesn't make him hit the holes hard). How many times last year did Boller or Jamal get hit as soon as they dropped back or got handed the ball? If our offensive line is still a sieve, we will lose.

Our next biggest problem is on the defensive line. We drafted the one guy in the top 15 that has the greatest chance of becoming a bust. Ngata has to prove that he's not another Dwan Edwards or our pooch is royally screwed. We can't have Kelly Gregg be our best dlineman and expect to stop people from running the ball down our throat.

We still have no safety to replace Will Demps. Dawan Landry who? A frickin 6th round draft pick? Our goose is cooked in the secondary. Our nickel CB will also be a rookie, but at least the guys we picked there were well-regarded.

The Ravens have had great potential since 2004. But we haven't utilized it. Signing Steve McNair does not make us any more of a contender unless the rest of the team follows his example.

And furthermore, we got robbed of a 4th round draft pick.

Looking at the Raven's marquee players we have:

Ray Lewis: While one of the best at his position in his hay day, he is older now and disgruntled, and it seems like he's increasingly injury prone.

Peter Boulware: Definitely a shadow of his former self.

Ed Reed: Still solid, for sure. Although he will most likely have no help at the other safety position this year. He can't play both safeties.

Terrell Suggs: A beast of a player, but too much of a hothead. He'll get as many 15 yard penalties as he will sacks.

Chris McAllister: A solid CB.

Samari Rolle: Also a shadow of his former self.

Haloti Ngata: While he has the potential, he's also a huge mystery as to whether or not he will have the motor. I also don't think he'll be much of a replacement, if any over Ma'ake Kemeoatu.

Trevor Pryce: Older now and not much of an upgrade, if any, over Weaver.

On offense:

Mark Clayton: Shorter, but respectable, and learning.

Jamal Lewis: Very disappointing 2005 season.

Mike Anderson: Could be a good backup, although Chester did a hell of a job last year.

Derrick Mason: Good WR

Todd Heap: Good TE

Here's the kicker:

Jonathan Ogden: The ONLY good offensive lineman, who is now old, is disgruntled with the organization after the release of his brother. All you have to say to him is "Dwight Freeney" and he'll jump offsides.

While they do have some big, offensive names, their defense has deteriorated, and their only good OLman is steadily headed downhill, while the Browns have greatly improved and the rest of the AFC North was already firing on all cyllinders. McNair is a good player, but the quarterback doesn't make up the team.

He is an upgrade over Boller, but time and bad attitudes have still taken their tolls on the team which is increasingly out of Billick's control.

I don't agree with that Ravens fan. McNair is a tough as qb and he'll do what it takes for them to win games. The Ravens staple is running the ball an playing good defense. The Ravens will probably place 3rd in their division.

The Steelers only lost a couple players to free agency. Kimo, Chris Hope, and Randle El.

Kimo is a big loss, but I think the backups are good enough to fill his void. He was getting old anyways, and during the playoff game against the Bengals he didnt record a single tackle anways.
Chris Hope got replaced by Ryan Clark from the Redskins, plus at least 2 safeties were drafted (one free agent rookie)
And Randle El, with all due respect, isn't worth the money he left for. He only had about 500 yards for the Steelers, his passing was more important than his catching, and he fucked up a lot, singlehandedly lost the Patriots game, and scared me whenever he'd return a kickoff. I personally think that Santonio Holmes, even if he only plays special teams, will make up for the loss of Randle El.

So, i'm not saying the Steelers will win the division again, but to say that they lost a lot of Free Agents is pretty dumb.

I think right now the AFC North is stacked. It used to just be Pittsburgh v. Baltimore with Cincy and Cleveland eatin the table scraps. Last year Baltimore looked amazing on paper, and with McNair they finally have an offense to go with their defense. A lot of you forgot about Todd Heap too, as a receiver.

Cincy is as good as last year, and if Carson Palmer is healthy, he is a better QB than Roethlisberger. Even though I'm a die hard Stillers fan and I hate the Bungles, on paper their offense is as good as it gets. If they can STOP THE RUN, they'll have a chance at the division. So far, no good.

As for Cleveland, Charlie Frye guarantees 4th place in the division.

But I could see Cincy, PGH, and Baltimore really fighting it out now, even though PGH and Cincy clearly have the edge over the Ravens.


The one thing is that, depending on where you placed in your division, you must face that same numbered team from the other divisions. For example, the team that finished 3rd in the AFC North has to play the teams that finished 3rd in the AFC South, East, and West.

So while the Bengals, Steelers, Ravens, and Browns all play the same teams, you gotta keep in mind that the Bengals are the ones who have to play the Broncos/Colts/Patriots, while the Steelers have the 2nd place schedule and the Ravens and Browns will be playing teams like the Raiders, Bills, Texans, etc.

uhh stealth...Heap is a TE. He puts up good numbers but I was comparing positions and Since neither team did much at TE I didn't include them in the comparrison.

I know he's a TE, but I'm sayin he gets the ball thrown his way, so you gotta factor him in as a receiver. He's not on the same level as Gonzales or Gates, but when you're gonna comment on a QBs productivity, you shouldn't count out a receiver just because he lines up in a 3 point stance, ya know?

He gets the ball more because his wr's suck...lol.

Ravens fans say this and that about wr's are good but qb sucks...well if the qb sucked why does heap catch the ball but the other wr's can't?? lol.

So I am with you as much as it pains me to say it...lol Pitt will roll over Ravens again.

We all play the Broncos and Raiders. We all play the AFC West and NFC South. Only two games are based on record.

The Bengals play New England and Indi

Steelers play Miami and Jacksonville

Baltimore plays Tennessee and Buffalo (@ Tennessee, should be interesting)

Cleveland plays the Jets and Texans

This is a tough schedule for the whole division. The AFC West and NFC South are pretty good.

they could finish third and still make the playoffs as long they win 10 games. ravens , dolphins and chiefs will fight out for wildcard berth.
