Dear VW,

I was hopping you can help me fix some of the faulty designs of my 2001 Jetta V6 Sport.

I now have some focus with my time and would like to see if we can work on some design maintenance issues, which I hope you can assist in a few free service arrangements. It would be greatly appreciated to have my Jetta fixed or replaced with the improved features of the new models. I understand the earlier versions, such as my Jetta, is of beta quality. If I could have waited 2years, I would have purchased a lower price Jetta with all the fix features. [Sounds a little like being cheated in another sales ethics loop hole. Did anyone test the 2000 models?] In all honesty, I was really surprised to see so many of the engineering designs lacked Quality.

Here are a few mechanical problems of the Jetta which I hope you could provide your generous service.

The automatic window for the front passenger side no longer moves up or down. Could you make a manual mechanism incase the automatic “stops” working due to cheap polymer materials? Or is that too difficult for an engineering thought process? I believe most of these windows should be replaced. It’s not on contract for windows to stop working at any given period of my ownership, is it? Actually, could you give me a listing of what should never break down so I know what NOT to budget for each year?

The front bumper guard would catch and tear off from its alignment more than once. It’s no longer aligned.

The hood was open, but with all the light features in warning the drive of any “open” areas prior to driving, this features for the hood was not considered practical? Needless to say a new hood would be tremendously accepted.

My glove compartment door broke off.

The center compartment no longer locks into place.

The spring underneath my seat have sprung off.

The vanity light for the driver doesn’t turn on.

Also, when I first took my pretty Jetta to it’s 2nd maintenance check the engine would jerked and make coughing, no struggling sounds, I’m sure it’s on your records. IF not, let me know if this will be standard so I know to wait for real Engineers to make better humans before we make better cars so I can wait till then to purchase my next new car.

I’m disappointed with VW. I’m pissed off that I paid this much for my car….I think I’ve fished out $70K, which I could have easily paid on a down payment on a house, medical school tuition, feed 50 homeless people for one year, or rebuild my parent home. BUT these problems should not have occurred, especially knowing how many educated engineers, some masters and doctors of engineering, were made to work on this model.

I hope you can understand my frustration and hope we can come to a quality of customer service we can both feel is the integrity of VW.

Thank you for your time. I hope I will hear from you SOON with great news.

Best wishes and have a beautiful day.

This is the response letter that I think you'll be receiving if you send that.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear "insightful" VW owner:

We appreciate the time and effort it must have taken for you put your concerns down on paper. However, we regret to inform you that none of your concerns can result in free service or product replacement.

We at VW feel that the design of our 2001 Jetta line is neither faulty, nor lacking in quality. Your car is over 5 years old, and there is most likely no way that we could attribute your issues to anything other than daily "wear and tear".

The 2000 models were tested and proven to be safe and efficient. However, they were tested under what we consider to be "standard" conditions of living, thus we simulated daily usage by a family of three: mother, father, and one child. We cannot be held responsible for the conditions brought upon our vehicles by your family, which most like consists of: mom, her four children, and the "step-daddy"/real dad of baby number five, who is shortly on the way.

I will also take some time to address your individual concerns:

Could you make a manual mechanism incase the automatic “stops” working due to cheap polymer materials?
This is 2006. Nobody wants to manually roll down windows anymore. Not since the early to mid nineties, at least. if the mechanism breaks, you must take it in for service.

The front bumper guard would catch and tear off from its alignment more than once. It’s no longer aligned.
If it's "catching" on something, then you need to stop driving over that particular area. It doesn't catch itself on air alone.

My glove compartment door broke off.
You obviously use it. This is wear and tear, as aforementioned.

The center compartment no longer locks into place.
Please read the response above again.

The vanity light for the driver doesn’t turn on.
And yet again.

We here at VW found these passages of particular interest.

Also, when I first took my pretty Jetta to it’s 2nd maintenance check the engine would jerked and make coughing, no struggling sounds, I’m sure it’s on your records.

I think I’ve fished out $70K, which I could have easily paid on a down payment on a house, medical school tuition, feed 50 homeless people for one year, or rebuild my parent home.
We find it interesting that someone who writes in English so poorly and has the lack of common sense to spend $70K on a car that costs less than $30K would be anywhere near capable of going to medical school. We can't imagine a country so poor and needy that they would hire a "doctor" of your caliber. As a matter of fact, we sent your letter out as a company e-mail and we got a riotous response at our last company meeting. Your words are now the precursors to a hearty chuckle at random times of the day.

Here is the bottom-line. You own a car. A vehicle that is five years old. Things are very likely to break and need service within that amount of time. Nothing in our vehicles is made of space-age adamantium alloy materials that have a lifetime guarantee. The automatic windows, compartments, and springs included.

Thank you for your time and concern. You will, however, be getting nothing.

^^^That was a damn good reply, I couldnt of said it any better myself.

Merciedez, things break on cars all the time, its up to you to maintain your vehicle and fix these things. If you dont like keeping up with your vehicles maintenance, maybe try leasing a car, or finding a vehicle with a 5 yr warranty...

If I spent $70K on a FUCKING JETTA......ooooohhhh I'd be heeeeeated....Sell that thing, or trade it in, and get a HONDA....they're easier to work on, cheaper to fix and buy, and last 200k+ miles.

I don't know of any other country that has a DOLLAR or uses $ as it's symbol, although I'm not an expert on world currency issues.

Either way, she shouldn't have bought that German piece of shit in the first place and second, shouldn't have thought they would EVER give her something for FREE....That's how they're still in business.....

And OhCoy....I think she means "beta" as in terms used for computer software.
