was just wondering why people put so much on a rappers "street credibility"? Its a business its entertainment. Cuz a rapper been shot what does that mean or prove? Cuz he sold dope and been to jail..and? What does that have to do with him delivering a dope album. I'm sure Brian DiPalma "The guy who wrote and directed Scarface" has never seen any part of the street or the drug trade but made a gangsta classic. But do u hear white folks or black folks sayin "well I dont know if I wanna watch this cuz I dont know if Brian is real" It sounds fucking retarded! But as I said in another thread, I guess these thundercats have to live vicariously thru these so called "real" rappers because thats the closest they'll get to some drama. Look at X-Raided, C-Bo,Flesh N Bone, Beany Sigal, C-Miller, Pimp C, Gucci Mane, Shyne and now Cassidy, all their careers suffered tremendously to say the least. I dont understand it...I mean your offered oppurtunities to better your situation but in the name of "keeping it Gangsta or real" you fuck yourself. But its funny cuz you never hear about Icecube, Scarface, Jay Z"except for the lil Lance thing", or somebody like Ice T who does have street cred never get into bullshit. But mufuckas will get on hear and call Will Smith a bitch or soft but..a recent platinum album and 20million a movie and he get to go home to Jada and his kids and aint gotta look over his shoulder..thats keeping it "real" Icecube keeping it "real" Master P keeping it "real" Jay Z keeping it "real" cuz they learned the game and ran with it and aint get caught in that bullshit. The object is to win. I can honestly say, if I had a record deal and I'm eatin and off the streets and shit is going good that I wouldnt be shooting at no nigga unless my life was in jeapordy right at that moment. But thats life or death, none of the aformentioned rappers were faced with that except Gucci Mane. Thats one outta how many? I guess what I'm tryin to say is niggaz need to learn how to grow and change for the better.

Ill say it like this. Street cred is needed if you saying you already got street cred. For example: if you a punk on your block unless you move city, you cant blow up because youll get get shit from the streets. But if you known to be a cool nig or a really thugged out nig you have more support behind you so will end up in less troube.

1. If you rapping about being a gangsta then you better be a gangsta on the streets because if you music flops at sum point when you go back to the streets you gona be getting punked til you die.

2. You read a script and do research to make a film so no one cares how thuged out the director or writer is.

3. JayZ is a bitch who has been exploiting his people for years, dont talk about him being real, cos that aint real.

4. Are you sayin only gucci Mayne has been shot at and had to shoot back? because thats wrong if that what you sayin.

5. When you living nice and making money people hate and alot of shit happens involving you and you closest nigz that mite end up in gun play jus like the drug game. If you check alot of you best (real nigz) rappers backgrouds you will see that most of them have friends on violent charges from incidenets in which the rapper whas probley involved.

6) Im a normal nig, been through alot and done alot of shit if you get what i mean. But i know if i ever got rich and famous alot of people that know me or known to me or my crew would be on sum hate/Extort/robbery shit and that would lead to drama, they would be like " that nig and his crew getin money like that now, wheres my cut" and since i dont owe them nigaz shit id be like fuck em. Not everyone knows these sort of people or that kinda life but even if they know you that could lead to sum kidnapping or extorting shit. Sum of you best rappers have/are being extorted because the didnt wana get into drama and keep there noise clean while still talking there gangsta or concious shit on wax.

7. If your talkin bout non gangsta rappers then they better just buy a house in the hills and roll with security.

8. most of the rappers you listed had street cred at the start of there career they didnt get there case then magicly get street cred.

9. If your really from the streets its hard to pack you bags and make a clean brake, if you come from that background you bring that shit with you where ever you go.

street credibility is necessary, why rap or portray a lifestyle you don't live? not sayin you gotta kill, rob niggas and sell dope but if you never been thru that shit why you rappin about it. its entertainment but at the same time if that's not what you're about u shouldnt be givin that impression. i dont look down on fake niggas in the game, like i said its entertainment, but i just dont entertain them.

Actually you all made some good points. But I know low-key smooth niggaz that handle they business if it comes but everybody dont know they business so if this nigga come out rapping about some gangsta shit and because he aint never did no stupid flagrant shit, does he not still have street cred? You could have a quiet killer nigga that rap, and a loud bitch nigga that talk shit and front and aint done shit but because he act tough then he got street cred. The quiet nigga dont want everybody to know he really hit the niggaz around the corner, but the loud bitch nigga will. C what I'm sayin? And Contaigous Locc said if you aint done it then you shouldnt rap about it, if thats the case then 98% of the rap industry need to shut the fuck up. But its art, its entertainment. And the homie Blackandproud said "You do research to write a film so nobody cares how thugged out the writer is" but why not? These rappers are writers too? Why do you care how thugged out they really are? Fetty made a good point...I hate niggaz like that too. I just hate to see niggaz waste oppurtunities on dumb shit, if you get a chance to grow up and change your situation then make the adjustment. If I was a rapper that was in a bunch of bullshit around the hood and I got some success, well guess what....then wouldnt see me just hangin like I did before. Common sense. I wouldnt wanna jeapordize nuthin, but common sense aint all that common anymore.

didnt say or describe anyone...... lol..... i feel you though mafi queen about the quiet niggas......... bottomline in this independent game if you dont got the support of the streets, you wont go to far...... with a big label and 6 figures and up behind your project, anyone can be that gangsta in music.......
