its not called selling out its called evolving....while the style you speak of suits alot of the originals from the sac rap scene, you cant expect every new artist to stick to the same formula. Longbeach aint making G funk no more, Vallejo etc aint making mobb music, NY rap dont sound the same...everything evolves. Some artists never evolve or as I said that style suites them and that is what the fans grew to expect from them.

exactly. The bay area has been through many changes and yet they still get support from local radio and the local fans new and old. . .

All the older "Veterans" like Lynch, Spice 1, C-Bo etc., do they actually sit down, listen to their shit and say "yea, this shit is bangin", or are they like "fuck it as long as it sells"? I don't get it.
those are my sentiments exactly in regard to this issue.

i think rapperz nowadays are just doing what they can. I'm guessing 80% of Sac's hiphop listeners don't give a shit about sac rap. Even 80% of the rappers. This industry is so diverse with different styles that you can't fuckin please everybody. So why would anybody wanna waste a chance of blowin up Nationwide. compared to be a fuckin nobody the rest of your life just to please 5 Siccness members... If some of these rappers are so caught up on Sac original sound..GO TO THE STUDIO. RECORD SOME TRACKS..TAKE IT BACK TO YOUR HOUSE..CRACK A 40.. AND LISTEN TO YOURSELF.
But i guarantee if somebody even attempted to copy cat lynch, c-bo or x-raided. im almost 100% positive none of you would even like it. and do everything in your power to clown the shit out of them for bitin' they style. Even tho ya'll complain aint nobody keepin it real to the essence.

So what is it Sac? what the fuck do you really want from people?

homie, nobody is saying they have to sound alike or be predominantly one genre of music, but ffs make some bangin music regardless. this hyphy shit and alike ain't cutting it. if you ask me, it is an attempt of the underground to sound like the mainstream. contrary to that, not to sound picky or some shit, i can listen one minute to madonna's la isla bonita song(LOL), the other moody blues - nights in white satin, and then i can throw in some old school shit like fearless four, ice-t, kool keith, craig g, mc shan and so on. decades of good music right there. sadly nothing right now is on that level.. jmo

Good post......Some cats got their own style so if they should do what they feel.

Just give me good music & I'm str8 I still fuck with Sac music old & new as long as it slaps. Biggest problem out in Sac is not the raps but more so the production. The beats up out of there as of late are shitty as fuck. Even a lot of the veteran producers in sac been half stepping. Another thing cats need to kill off some of these label. Its about 25 labels in that little ass town alone.

And its a difference froom having a record label & a record company. Niggaz be hollering they got a label but aint got no offices, no one on their payroll just a fucking street team & no address.

I think alot of these rappers that was considered tight BACK in THAT era of Sacramento rap are disgruntled that the shit they USE to put out aint the shit no mo! Who gives a fuck... everyone want's to determine what Sacramento rap is just like KRS-1 wants to dictate what is and what isn't Hip-Hop! I honestly dont like majority of the shit this board considers dope... but I respect why they do and the the loyalty being shown to those artist. DO U and make a difference, cant get mad the next nigga dont talk about what YOU want em to. He/Her has his own fanbase and it's obvious that cat's is mad the shit they dont like is more popular than the shit they want to be respected for!

Dont hate Soulja Boy etc. becuz they figured out a way to get money and that knowledge these niggas is trying to kick is falling on deaf ears! Step ya game up...

I think the whole point got lost! I mean the point of this post LL Cool J did and alway has done albums for the bitches you have to respect that with or without a record sell he did him change is apart of any artist career but changing to please others is selling out homie no matter how you cut it thats where the term selling meaning something gets sold i wonder what oh a c.d lol common sense people. selling out means compromising your craft for money! NOw if you started making disco music and calling it rap and thats the shit that cymbalizes your art then i respect it even if i dont like it but when your a gimmick I.E Solder Boy i cant respect it sorry!!! But thats just my opinion as a person who loves the music not for the money though money is nice but for the art. I think my music continues to change and grow but just because hyphee i didn't try to grow no dreads slap gold in my mouth start saying dumbie and stupid a million times switch from professional beats to find beats i was making in 88 to rap to today like some of these other rappers i'm not gonna say no names but they all know who they are and it ain't benifitted them a penny. Just under cuts sacramento makes us look weak look like we nut riders of the bay when we are the capital! The one thing i can say about the old school sac rap at least it had its own sound it wasn't the bays its was sacramentos and sacramentos only now i dont expect the new breed to sound like lynch i just expectto be original like sac has alway been! Now i hope i cleared that up for the people that was on the low low getting butt hurt if u like disco music i could never be mad at u and hate i like disco 2 i just liked my disco on dance fever and soul train. Listening to it especially in sac rap is crazy to me and as a final note the one thing u could alway say that u cant anymore is sac had its own sound!

Every new sac song i here is catering to bitches or sounding disco to get on the radio and it makes the city look gayer and gayer when these rappers incorporate this sound and still get no love from the radio its dj's or the music funs in the city and then it ends up they kissed all that ass for nothing, radio ass, bitches asses, clubs asses all for nothing it fucks me up to see what the real sacramento rappers built get torn down so quickly as a rapper its embarrassing to see the new age do it to themselves and i mean damn near all off em ive heard at shows etc Hondo is about the only one and emoe some what are the only and emoe old school but they r the only ones recently at shows ive seen keep it sac the others you minus well throw a disco party its a disgrace!!! We had our own sound and now they r killing it to please a bitch or radio or a club somebody tell me something! I don't want to hate on them but FUCK!!!! They r hating on a whole legacy.
I make alotta songs 4 bitches, cuz I like bitches.. I don't know about everyone else, but I get pretty good radio play wit them songs, I doubt anybody here really listens to the radio to vouch for me, but I'm on everyday witta song for bitches..
I make songs bout shit I like, I like knoccin bitches, doin drugs, makin money, spendin money etc..
I still like Bo, Nutty, X, Lynch and shit like that, G-Macc is my favorite artist from sac. But at the sametime I like alotta Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Fabolous, Little Brother, Young Jeezy, shit, I even like Mase and Gucci Mane..

I make shit that's like a soundtrack to my life.. Which now days is different then it was years ago, I know Gucci Mane can't rap, but when I'm in vegas or sumwhere gettin ready to act a fool and party and shit, that's the type of shit I like to hear when I'm doin those type of things, when I was runnin around tryna bang I was listenin to other shit.. I make music off my moods so I still do gangsta shit, I just don't do the fast rappin, cuz I'm not good at it.. Times just change, niggas aint rappin like kurtis blow anymore either, and everyone can't do the sac sound, or everybody would just be the same, so u just gotta do u. So if a nigga don't rap like u, he's not a real sacramento artist??
I think I'm one of them artists ur talkin about..
That's "hating on our legacy"
But me and C-Bo done had talks about me being WCM, X-Raided shows me luv in interviews sayin he likes my shit, and did a verse on my new shit, I just did sum shit wit Lynch recently, and workin on a project wit COS, Cann & Madesicc, and fucc wit Hollow Tip tuff on music and outside of music.. Those are pretty much the top names of the generation ur speakin on..

I dunno why its a bad thing if rappers evolve with whats happening today. There was a time where "Times was bad" and thats the story that went on during current times. Then times got good "so the partying music" starts.

Id rather listen to v101 and listen to old skool music cause music was fun back in the day. You could make a party song and everyone loves it. But if someone was to make a party song now a days your selling out.

Good music is good music reguardless. Different strokes for different folks. I outgrew the xraideds, and the brotha lynches cause back then it was some hard shit back then but now being in my 30s I want to hear some shit I could relate to. (baby eating references have been abolished from threads as of now on) because it doesnt make sense bringin that shit up....

I was once a fan of what was being made in the 90s but it changed when people started caring about their livelihood and made a change within its boundries. But since we all starving right now I feel that the newer generation will come around its beginning roots and bring that sound back cause well shit aint the same when the economy was booming....

I'll say this much, evolution is good. I havent heard enough of the new stuff to judge.

But to the older generation and the dudes that follow the older stuff, its easy to compare. The sounds we used to were bumped and engraved in our ears, that its becomes a standard (atleast for me it does).

I like the older 90's stuff, but I'll always give a fair shake to anything. That is just me though.

I'm not a soulja boy fan, but I'm not also a hater. I just wont bump his musik.
