As we get older in this Game it should also mean we're getting wiser. Of course that's not always the case.
Let me try and make this short and sweet. I've had a few conversations with a few people out here and the topic of teaching/ guiding a younger generation comes up.
Often times it turns out where the youngster forgets (in this music realm) that when he/she first approched you. He/she didn't even know how to write 16 bars. Didn't know how to market, or had any idea how the Game ran.
All he knew was...he had a computer and a recording program. He'd record his flows and was in search for somebody to listen.
Along comes the wiser/older person who has been doing it for quite sometime and has knowledge of what to do. This person listens and without having to...embraces the youngster and takes him/her under his wing.
Time passes and the youngster gets impatient and begins to subiminaly diss (on tracks) the person who's helped him out. He say's he needs no guidance, but yet the seasoned vet pay's it no mind. He feels and sees the youngster losing focus.
Maybe the youngster feels things are not happening fast enough, yet the older seasoned rapper feels he's been there, done that and it didn't work. He doesn't want the youngster to follow that unsuccessful path, but the youngster sees different and insist on doing things his way. On top of that he bad mouths the older one who helped and guided him.
Kind of like, "Rocky 5". The young Tommy Gun befriends Rocky, only to forget who really helped him out. And wants to run things his way.
In question...
Is it common sence? Or just plain ungrateful?
Should you take somebody under your wing? Or let them figure it out for themselves and not waste your time?
