Nice anti communism propaganda from 1947. It's always fun looking at propaganda from that time period.

You can always spot the propaganda, and those that don't know what their talking about, when they equate big government with communism. Communism, is of course, stateless. There is no big dictatorship government, Socialism is supposed to be the dictatorship of the proletariat where the working class is the ruling class in contrast Capitalism whereby the bourgeois is the ruling class, and communism is stateless. It's funny to think how the propaganda at the time was to convince the people that Communism is a global conspiracy, controlled and manipulated by an elite few, to oppress the people of the world, rather than a movement of worker's fighting to free themselves from the shackles of the ruling elite. It's that reverse psychology that has been in play for well over 50 years that has led to the current state of the mere words of "socialism" and "communism" being taboo in the US, that such words are practically banned from public schools unless it is direct criticism or at best "good in theory but not in practice".

In a very small amount of history, a hundred years, we've seen socialism and it's various forms. We've seen state communism, to an extent. But we haven't seen communism yet since it's never been achieved. What we've seen is state communism and even then we've mostly seen Stalinism or forms of Stalinism, which as Socialist George Orwell wrote about was obviously extremely authoritarian, which of course is exactly the opposite of what communists set out to achieve.

Propaganda or not, is it dead? Well it hasn't even begun. Inevitably it will come in some form or another, as society and mankind evolve so too does the economic systems and global Capitalism will die and be replaced, like everything before it.

"But that wasn't true communism" -Every useful idiot ever.

Haha definitely some truth to that.

Although the same thing could be said about capitalism. We have never really experienced a state with pure laissez-faire capitalism.

And right now as the predominate agenda of our government seems to be

1) Jobs
2) Jobs
3) Jobs

....we are certainly moving further away from any semblance of free market capitalism and closer to something more like state capitalism.

You're a little better than posting a wiki to the black book ya? You can at the very least simply take the Chomsky quote from that very link, Chomsky argued that, "supposing we now apply the methodology of the Black Book and its reviewers" to India, "the democratic capitalist 'experiment' has caused more deaths than in the entire history of [...] Communism everywhere since 1917: over 100 million deaths by 1979, and tens of millions more since, in India alone."

"But that wasn't true communism" -Every useful idiot ever.
And some really fucking smart people that actually know a thing or two, unlike this useless quoted troll.

Communism has never and will never be chosen by the people or 'perfected'; it has always been imposed with subversion and violence.
Yes, the powers that be have always handed over the keys to the people without any fight. You want Communism, here you go! You want a fair distribution of wealth, take my millions to divide, please! And when a bureaucracy seized power from a communist workers movement, it never gave it back.

We have such a small sample size of time, to think something cannot be isn't really thinking far at all. How society evolves, how mankind evolves and where we will be 25, 50, 100, 500 years from now is almost unimaginable at this point in time. To think every person would have the world's most powerful computer x1000 in their pockets with the ability to instantly communicate with anyone on the planet 50 years ago would have been crazy talk and yet that happened in an extraordinarily small amount of time. Seeing that capitalism has used up its useful purpose and will eventually evolve into something else where workers, the people own the means of production didn't come from the minds of madmen, like Darwin the theory of evolution holds true for all in this universe, economic systems included. So yes, we can argue over semantics and whether or not something fits the very definition of the word or we can even argue if what we have seen was doomed to fail from the start given the places and circumstances at which they arose from (not advanced Capitalist counties), but do not claim to know what the people can or cannot choose in the future, as humanity does not stay stagnant and what may seem clear today will not hold true tomorrow.

I'll admit I have nothing vested into this topic at all, I just wanted to keep it going and see what arguments and counter arguments would be put forth and how quick it would get ugly. I kind of forgot this site is dead lol

Cuba is a good example of what I mentioned about doomed to fail. Small poor island, hardly any resources. They cannot achieve communism by themselves, so they keep the "Socialist revolution" going for 50 years, they could only possibly do so with the help of other more advanced countries, which is why they relied so heavily on the help of the Soviet Union and why things got so bad after the fall of the USSR.

We haven't seen any advanced Capitalist counties transition to socialism, we've only seen poor backward and colonial countries attempt Socialism. That's very difficult, the only way perhaps would be through the theory of permanent revolution. What we saw instead was the attempt of "socialism in one country" by Stalin in Russia and followed by others after (Stalinism). There was a reason Stalin killed all the Bolsheviks. So what have we even seen? State Communism at best?
