I want to be able to argue this with conviction...Why or why not will he be staying or leaving the giants?

Help me sound intelligent, please.

His salary would be pretty high for him to return, and basically its either signing barry (regain fan support), or let him go, and grab a couple other free agents (lose fan support)

Ok, this is a constant ongoing argument with me any my friends...my theory is...

him and his agent have said a couple things...one is that he wants to finish his career with SF. also, they said he will play next year if hes healthy...now, both things pose problems. IF HE IS HEALTHY, he'd need to resign a short, but expensive contract. probably a one year, 18 mil contract or something (im not too sure how much of a pay cut players can take). now, for someone to re-sign him for that much, they better be getting their money's worth, i.e. he'd probably need to DH, which means an AL team with a big payroll will sign him. who's willing to take that risk? my guess would be the Angels. but that wont happen.

what i'd like to see happen? have the giants re-sign him, even tho it'd be pretty rediculous for them to do so. that money can go somewhere. but it would be cool to see him return for the all-star game at home.

what will probably happen? he'll wait till the late winter to decide to retire.

IF he accepts a drastic pay cut he'll retire with us, if not he'll be a DH for Anaheim or Oakland.

mostly likely it be incentive laded contract like frank thomas got this year if wants to stay with the giants.

if barry doesnt sign they better sign carlos lee or soriano to replace him.

Yeah, he already said he'd like to end his career as a DH in Anaheim. I woudn't mind it either.
he lives in la that one of reasons.

i just hope nobody offers a contract to him except the giants so that he will have to take a pay cut. i say $5 million should be max offer to barry.

10 mill and under he stays

He needs 22 homeruns too break the record, they done built the whole stadium around barry bonds. he's been there almost his whole career and he has fam history w/ the team... i think he stays, no other team would take him, its sad but true. he'll stay hit his 22 next year and retire in san francisco.
