I don't think theres any reason why Hyphy and Mobb can't co-exist. Neither one needs to die for the other to live. But the fact is, Mobb music never went anywhere... It IS the sound of the Bay. It may have been temporarily overshadowed by the newer Hyphy sound but believe, me it would be pretty hard to do away with a sound that has argueably been around since BEFORE Bay Area rap.

See, Cats got it twisted... the music Came FIRST the rappin' came later. Hyphy has many of the same elements of Mobb, it's just speeded up with new elements added; kinda like how George Clinton says Funk ain't nothin but Blues speeded up with an emphasis on the one.

Any great system has at least two options, and for us to sit around prayin for the downfall of one of these styles is like shootin' ourselve's in the foot. Bein' from The Bay is about bein' a Hog and havin' your cake and eatin it too. Not this childish one is better than the other shit. It's art... it's all in the eye (ear) of the beholder.

If you look at the situation objectively, it's easy to see how the Bay has allowed itself to become a second class citizen in the NATIONAL Hip Hop Scene. For a long time it was very hard for a nigga off the street to get put on in The Bay. Shit... our independent labels were damn near as hard to get on as a Major Label. Alot of closed clickin' was goin on. Niggas would rather put their wack ass family members or homies on, than a nigga wit genuine skills. But by and large the majority of independent releases from The Bay were solid. There were standards and the game was to be sold not told.

Gradually the game was bastardized and filtered down to the younger generation and every Tom, Dick, and Hank with a mic and an MPC beleived they had the blueprint. Nowadays every other nigga is a CEO let him tell it, and you got unseasoned entrepreneurs glutting the market with substandard product on a daily basis. Cat's are so busy trying to LOOK like they doin' it, that they don't realise they're wasting their time and loosin' their shirts in the process. How many flop ass money loosing albums do you have to put out to realize that the Rap Game may not be for you?

I guess nowadays the young niggas probably feel like they are finally getting their chance to shine after the older niggas kept shit on lock for so long. But tell the truth... look around... has the loosening of Bay Area Rap standards really been for the better? Nothings really changed at the top of Bay Area Rap. The names are still the same... thats cause niggas like 40 and Short hold the true game and most of you OTHER niggaz is workin' wit a Fugazi script. You ever wondered how a nigga like DRE could do time, get out of the Pen, and still pass you up? That's cause he had Treal game and a copy of the TREAL manuscript. What you got is half the story and crumbs from the table.

What I'm sayin is... is that by opening the refrigerator to the masses the quality of virtually ALL of the music has suffered. Some niggas need to get real with themselves and L.I.G. it. The REAL artists producers and Labels honestly need to close ranks again. If you're a real producer, refuse to work for substandard artists and stop makin' beats for free. If you're an artist, refuse to work with substandard producers and just say no to the wack ass collabs. Is it too much to ask that if I buy your album at least 95% percent of the album be you? If you're tight, why the fuck you need a hundred other niggas to co-sign anyway? If you're a label, pay the talent. If you hold that money TOO tightly in your hand, theres no room to put any MORE in. Stop glutting the market with all these bullshit releases. Take your time. Release a quality product. Have some self respect.
