D.E.O are you the one who did beats and engineer some Baysho Mob (Assassin, Lexo R.P) ?

Shakilla let me peep those, good work!

just create your own lane, dont try and be your favorit rapper / producer... and ignore the hate, you have to believe in yourself before anyone else does... have of the reason people will believe in you, is because your own confidence ( not cocky)

invest in yourself

network

stay true to yourself - dont try to be someone your not

treat the shit as a business - find a way to market yourself

at the end of the day keep in mind this is just music - if your getting paid its just a job that happen to have a passion for - don't change up on people you grew up with when you start getting a little shine and a little change. trust me.

learn who to keep at a distance and who to keep around you

try not to make the same mistakes people in your same situation made before you

you can't let shit that people say get to you - i advise you remove yourself from situations that are going to end with you having to do something violent (dont be that hot head rapper u aint gon last, if you have to protect yourself thats one thing, but dont welcome that shit because we all know from experience you will get what you looking for)

dont fight the next mans war

show people that you are solid, true, and talented make them believe in you (nobody wants to believe in a phony or a wack ass rapper)

dont worry bout what nobody thinking about u because people are going to be talking. and talking that shit.

and this is not just industry advice this is LIFE advice

live your life and have fun wit it dont put so much pressure on yourself where shit aint fun no more. if u aint having no fun with this shit maybe it aint for you, it dont matter if you make it or not as long as you enjoying yourself thats all that matter.

1. Never burn Bridges - You never know when u may need to cross that bridge again, and if you do need to cross it, use it to your advantage

2. Be on your job - this shit is Chess not checkers

3. Grind before you shine... most mothafuckas got the game twisted and spend all they money tryna shine before they really put in work... do the opposite.. swallow that urge to cop that new whip or chain and let your money work for you...

4. Network - if you aint out there, neither is your work

5. Assholes never get anywhere... word spreads faster about a Shady or asshole type than the real down to earth mothafucka... keep clients and prospective business contacts happy with your personality and your work and they'll talk about you to their peoples, increasing your network and building your rep.

6. Refresh Your Network - Make sure you give all your contacts a shout form time to time.. whether it be thru text, phone, email, myspace etc.. let them know you still exist and the connection is still good.

7. Believe in yourself... Noone else will if you dont make them believe in you

8. Rely on yourself - putting your future in someone else's hands is for fools...

9. Free Labor - i cant tell you how many times I've done one job for free and gained multiple paying tasks out of it. Use good judgement when doing this. If you know it will get you nowhere, then tell em to cash out or smash out

10. Be Savvy.... stay current in your field... read all magazines, websites and all media related to your craft... stay ahead of the game

I'm currently out here in Hollyhood gettin my grind on working out a major recording studio... if any of yall tryna network get at me... my contact info is in my sig

Get a good lawyer. Better yet, get a good team of business professionals.

Surround yourself with people who are strong in areas where you are weak

"Same people you see on the way up, you will see on the way down" Basically, be careful how you treat people, you might disrespect someone who will one day stand between you and success

Learn what it means to be "on top of your business" Its all about the details

It's not who you know, but who knows you

All You Need to Know About the Music Business by Donald S. Passman. A guy from Universal recommended it to me around 99-00. It will help you understand that the business model for the recording industry and the formula for success in it has not changed since they 1st started putting music on records
