Apparently the thread is missing now on Raptalk, but here is an article written on Dugout Records by PASO:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Web design, shirt printing, c.d.'s printing and pressing, vehicle sticker printing, magazine owners, and a record company owner. Some call these two San Jose residences the P. Diddy of the west, the Master P's of the eight, and some call them the best-kept secrets of the game and I'm not going to argue with the comments. Damon Dash has the rags to riches stories to how he got to the level he is now, on television every day, playing one on one with Kobe Bryant. The difference between Rae " Playarae " and Rob the owners of Dugout Records and those other investments I listed to name a few is that there still independent. These guys are more active in the music scene than these bigger rappers and CEO's but they show hustle.

They're still looking for distribution right now with all that they do selling over a 1000 c.d. on one album with no distribution. Doing shows, making appearances on albums, slanging records out the trunk, all of this will continued to be done by the smallest label making the biggest noise.
Lets take you back to 1992, when tagging and all this was in style. The CEO's Ray Molina and Rob Negrete were still in high school, staying out late running with a graffiti crew. At that time Ray was known as the Notorious Pusher 165 and Rob was the Mischieph 1, music was always in their plans for something they wanted to do. From about 92 to 96 they were doing graffiti hard and gaining a big reputation, Rae stopped in 96 from a huge tragedy that made him stopped and lost contact with Rob. Basically doing their thang for four years from 96 to 2000.

In 2000 Dugout Records released there first artist KOD's album called "The Outcome", on Mishchieph Productions and released by Rob. Rob did a hell of a job on the album but with a lack of funds for promotion it's kind of hard. ENTER Ray Molina. When Rae got back on his game it was over!! When Rae and Rob are together you know shits going all the way. The first thing they decided to do was the compilation "Hustlin City 2 City" which featured: Mr.Kee, Don Cisco, Dutch, Keltic Tribe, Mac & Ak, D-Mac, Killa Sharks, Playarae, and more. If you have the album you know what it's about, nothing but knockers. There was no nationwide distribution for the album but it made such a buzz on the streets and the Internet pushing over 700 albums Dugout Records became a name that was solid.

In Los Angeles, I don't know if its true if you go to L.A. you're destined for greatness, but I do know that when Rae signed L.A. born rapper Gangsta Reese he couldn't go wrong. You may know Reese from the group Full Clip who left due to some money issues from their first album, making a buzz on the west coast rap scene. Before Dugout Records was thought up, when rocking Shaquille O'Neal jerseys when he was in Orlando was in style Rees was close to Rae's cousin Wal-Nutt, who is incarcerated right know. So they always knew each other before rapping because Rae stayed in touch with Wal-Nutt and contacted with Reese.

In 2001 Rae and Rob met up with Reese and spoke to him about the start of their label and the buzz they’re getting so far. With Reese fooling around with so many faulty labels selling pipe dreams, Dugout Records is the most suitable thing that could ever be made in the game. Advances, paying for trips, the two CEO's have done all this for Reese, the things a record label should do. Even driving all the way from San Jose to Sacramento to pick up Reese for appearances are small things that make this label family bound! In 2001 Gangsta Reese and Dugout Records had there first big chance with Reese's solo debut album being released nationwide, distributed by Bayside Entertainment Distribution, "Full Metal Jacket". This is known as a classic of 2001. The two CEO's still haven't seen the numbers for the album, but if you bought it you know you got your money's worth. We can only pray for a big future for Dugout Records and Gangsta Reese. Gangsta Reese: "I'm going to have to set up a meeting with Rae and Rob and have a pow-wow about a new album. Dugout Records is family and I'm happy here."

Huge year!! All I have to say about Dugout Records, 2001 was belonged to them. Now for 2002 these so-called P. Diddy's of the bay (as their haters would say) have more coming to you musically than you may be able to take. First, "Hustlin City 2 City 2: Executive Decisions" featuring Jaytee, Baby Beesh, Lil Tec, Sayso, Mr. Sche, Syko, Uso, Mista Drawmuh, Mr. Bilistic, Res, Komain, Gangsta Reese, llSicc, Playarae, and more! Playarae's solo album called " November Rain". Which is dedicated to his best friend Johnny Rodriguez, who was murdered in November 95 in his arms due to gang relation?" Even more, "Mic Check-Verbal Soul Searching." Which is a project like the Def Poetry Jam you've seen on HBO, but on c.d. and by the #1 independent label Dugout Records.

This year is filled with albums and hits from Dugout Records. Look for them everywhere on the net and flooding your town with promotional albums. http://www.dugoutrecords.com is there web address.Rae and Rob have been through a lot in life and risked a lot for this music. Hitting the studio and making hits is what keeps them going, if you dislike their music and their enthusiasm then that's your opinion. But respect them for what they do for us.

"The independent record label with big dreams and small bank accounts just got a little bigger." Rae Molina
