Police are investigating a murder and suicide on the Far Southside.
The apparent double shooting was reported just before noon today in an apartment in the 5400 block of Boggs Creek Court, just east of I-65 and north of the Marion County-Johnson County line.
Matthew Ford, 28, apparently shot and killed Caitlin Walter, 21, and then shot himself, according to Sgt. Matthew Mount, a spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The couple apparently had been in a relationship that Walter had tried to break off, police said.
Officers learned of the shootings when the Walter’s sister, concerned that she had not been able to reach her relative, called for help. Medics and firefighters went to the apartment, and firefighters forced the apartment open, finding the bodies in a back bedroom.
The homicide increased the 2009 total in Marion County to 32, compared to 43 at the same time in 2008.
