Rollins is a local guy. but I'm sure he'll tell you renteria for the Cardinals is the NL shortstop this year. Fir one he's hitting around .360. FOr two, he plays in St. Louis and the fans out there stuff the ballot
Someone put Jeter ontheir list. Jeter's been on the DL sicne the first week of the season. SHoulder fucked up or something. In the American League, you dont play...you dont make the all-star game at shortstop (ask Nomar). Tejada, Nomar, Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Vizquel. There is NO FUCKING way he makes it. Nomar and ARod will go.
so rollins, Bernie Williams, Torri Hunter, and Jeter are all gone from your list.
Carl Everett should go, but he's an ass hole and the fans do the voting. He'llprobably get in though because managers take reserves. Sheffield is a muthafucka. Jones is having a mediocre year.
That means Bonds and Sheffield are the only A/A LOCKS for teh All-star game. Everett probably, and doubtfully Jones..... for two leagues.... times have changed.
The one A/A guy kids would look up to would have been Griffey. But he can't stay healthy.
Its not the end of the world, demographics have changed. People like Strawberry and Eric Davis coming from the ghetto and becoming superstars are rare. Gooden (Jherri curl and all!) If peole want to see more inner-city kids playing baseball, they gotta support it and encourage youngstas do do something different besides hoop.
