Super Bowl XLII blog: NFL to salute Bill Walsh
The league will pay tribute to the late, great Bill Walsh on Sunday. His son, Craig, will participate in the coin toss for Super Bowl XLII, along with Ronnie Lott, Jerry Rice and Steve Young.
It's a great posthumous honor for a man whose influence in the sport will be felt forever.
Walsh died on July 30 at the age of 75. He was one of the most influential people in NFL history with his offensive principles and organizational skills. Walsh won three Super Bowl titles during his 10 seasons as 49ers coach. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.
He also remembered for helping the league on many important initiatives - from improving opportunities for minorities in coaching and the front office to its executive training and international development programs.
