but this question is killing me. ithe question asks "what legal principle is involved"
with the death penalty?

I was thinking " to continue the good moral of people"

what kind of class is this? is this jurisprudence?

Political Science its a paper on Civil liberties/ civil rights issues.

btw i also have to compare and contrast liberal and conservative media outlets on how they approach the issue i chose <<, last paragraph and im done

I cant help you with the last paragraph. But, as for the legal principle for the death penalty, you could use retributivism. Basically what retributivism is, eye for an eye.
Got this from my law notes: Wrongdoers receive punishment because they deserve it for their wrongful actions (“just deserts”)
View comports most w/ common sense notions of justice (i.e. getting what you deserve)
