Corel Draw has a "Barcode Generator" plug-in, built in.
You can also go to
www.download.com and search for a stand alone program.
Type in your search: "Barcode Generator", "Barcode Creator", "Barcode Maker". There will be lots to pick from. There are a few free ones out there, I've had success with some too.
If your program gives you options for which type of barcode to create, you need to select "UPC-A"
for Music-CD manufacturing. That's the standard 12 digit code you see on CD's. The first 6 numbers are a purchased and assigned number from the EAN-UCC System. Companies in retail can purchase a barcode sequence at:
http://www.uc-council.org/
About $600-700 if you feel like splurging.
The next 5 numbers are made up by the comapny, designer, retailer, however they prefer to help catalog. The 12th (Last) number should always be random generated. Let the program do it, any credible program will. For Audio CD's, the universal last number you assign, the 11th overall should be a "2". This signafies Audio CD to retailers.
There are also websites out there who sell single, one time use barcodes. You can find them through a search.
As everyone said, most all competetive manufactures and presseres out there offer a "free" barcode with production. Look around.
Stay away from the "font" style of generators.
