I Need a video shot for a playa price

I know an actual high quality video costs a couple thousand dollars. I need a video shot for considerably less or maybe I'll just do it myself. I can rent a mini DV and I have a video camcorder. I want to know if there is someone here in the Bay that does high quality videos for less.
