Lets not forget the lessons of 20th Century Philosopher Christopher Rock already, and his famous quote: "Man!! How am I gonna get rid of all this crack!?!?!"

Grinding only works if you have a product people NEED....not one you're forced to make them WANT. You can grind all day long, at the end of the day you're only going to sell a few thousand copies, then disappear like all the rest.

It's almost common sense. Create a demand and the industry and followers will notice. I noticed that it helps to have a cult following first to get that lemming effect that will gain you new fans. Promotion + distribution + publicity + fanbase + hits + something new to effect pop culture, how much times do we gotta go through this?

....This is why Cam'Ron has so much staying power, despite a lack of "big hits": the Lyricism and the Beats are always there, no matter the subject content. Only a complete jackass would listen to Cam'Ron and say he "can't rhyme", and I do mean that with 100% sincerity. A complete fucking jackass

Cam'Ron sucked balls on Kanye's "Gone". So I wouldn't say his lyricism and beats are always there. If ever...:ermm:

I feel you Savage. Alright, I hope everybody is thinkin, we can start the movement right now. What do we have that no other region has? What is the mind state of people up here? What do people do for fun? What do people wear? Do we have our own slang? What clothes do we normally wear, what is our style? What do most NW instrumentals/rappers have in common? Any help is appreciated.

lol u r talkin like a movement cna really be planned. also thats a big problem in the northwest is the fact that there really is no style its really borrowing from this region and that region. Unless u want to run off w/ the whole we are a bunch of hippys thing. Understand that the northwest is nothing to other parts of the US. shit I was talkin to someone from ATL on aim the other day and when I told him to come out to Seattle he said wheres that. and thats not uncommon for people in other parts of the country. Until we can make ourselves known we aint gonna get no where

Always too many of these types of threads that don't do anything. Everybody play their position:

ARTISTS make GOOD music and GRIND. Bug the shit out of people, refuse to be ignored, but only after you have made GOOD music. This is the side I am not as familiar with because I'm not an artist, but I know that you absolutely have to have GOOD music but that's not where the work stops, b/c if you're underground, nobody's trying to hear you.

FANS BUY that good music. FANS try to get OTHER PEOPLE into that good music. Play it in the car, at the parties, in the home, whatever. I want to see the collection's of people on here talking about all this stuff, cause the way I see it, if you don't have X,Y and Z (I'd be happy to name 10-15 that qualify in my view) in your collection, you are not doing the most basic thing you can do for the Northwest movement.

Beyond these things, I don't think there is anything anybody can do.

i think the music is already there, maybe a lil too gangsta like Savage said...I dont even make gangsta music so shit....But as far as something we all have in common, shit i guess we smoke on good shit...we drink coffee...and were usually bored as shit cuz there aint much to do in washington. LOL. hmmmm.
I think xpanther is right though. Just do your thang, rock shows, tell everyone you see to buy your shit. just imagine, if there was a way to tell every single person in the NW to listen to your shit.. youd probably be doin alright. How the hell do you do that though?

Whatever other stuff that doesn't matter much (interviews, album reviews and other corny shit)

No matter how tight your music is, you got about a 1/100 chance of me telling someone your MySpace URL or Soundclick page or any of that other shit. I don't have time to be memorizing all that.

Once a site or two is up (mine or otherwise), i'll start telling. I'll even wear a T-Shirt around, though, a Sweatshirt would be preferable.

all we want to do is get heard and gain respect. we'll have to do something ginormous to do that. and i think that all beefs would have to be squashed somehow someway and for WA, OR, and ID to connect and combine our artists, lables and producers and make a huge project out of it. but it's easier said then done. but we needa do something about it.
