I mean, really, if you don't want people of other races using it, don't use it yourself. The whole concept of "Do unto others" applies here. If you use it jokingly, then expect others to do so around you too. If you use it referring to your friends, expect your friends to do it back. If you use it as a term of aggression, expect the same hostility to be returned as well.

You're not the law, and you're not a maker of rules. Why the fuck should a black people be allowed to say it and the other races should not? I see black people saying, "We're equal to whites/Asians/Hispanics," then they try to turn around and say, "But whites/Asians/Hispanics can't say the words I say."

Besides, who cares what someone says? Really, words are just noises we make that signify an idea. If you really want to get fired up about something, wait til somebody punches you. Then get angry.

And I don't want to hear the dumbass argument, "'Nigga' isn't the same as 'nigger'." Yes it is- stop kidding yourself. 'Nigga' is a bastardization of the word, "nigger"- derived from the same root word, the same history, and the same meaning.

It's so much a part of culture now it ain't even funny. That's why many blacks want to kill that word. Many blacks don't use it and are hella offended by black people usin it. It's a trip though like gas said when Licwit uses it I don't feel any different then when a black person uses it. He's wit the struggle and young. I try not to use it but alot of my old music has it. Don't be a coward about it and type it on the Internet. If you truly believe it's not disrespectful walk up to a random black man or woman and say it. Say it like a term if endearment like some of us say it. Have your homeboy video tape it and put the results on YouTube.

the thing that trips me out is when a black friend of mine says to me "wut up my nigga".. what the fuck am i supposed to do?? say wut up my "amigo?"... if blacks are so concerned about the word being derogatory, just quit fucking saying it, or get a fucking patent pending, copyright on that word so yall can have the exclusive rights to the word... i was raised in oakland, so i'm more than comfortable saying that word because everywhere i go it is being used so freely..
You know I feel wat u saying, but some things truly will never change. The word "nigga" has been absolutley drilled into the fabric of African American culture. It's impossible for blacks to just stop saying it. The N-word has to be one of the most unique words in the dictionary, b/c it has no real definition, and a disputed etymology.

but i just can't help it. This is for the whole Siccness, but mostly for the black users. How do yall honestly feel about the use of the N-word outside the African American community? I'm asking this because it seems like the shit is being accepted everywhere like it's a master card or sumthin. I'm just not with it. I'm 19, I've seen white boys get fired on for calling the wrong person "nigga." As well as Mexicans. I'm scrolling down facebook today, and I see this half white half asian kid's status talking about "bout to get high wit my niggas." I know the kid we played on the bball team together in high school, he never said that shit to my face or to any other black person's face (to my knowledge). And in general I've been noticing more and more non-blacks using the shit (not to my face). It's just unaccetable to me. I'm ranting right now Siccness somebody tell me something...
Well I'm asian and I think other asians that say it are pretty much outta pocket....its embarrassin
IDK its whatever I guess I just remember growin up if kids said that they got they ass whooped!

The thing is, the "do onto others" concept can't apply here because of the history of the word. Historically, the word "nigga/nigger" has always held a different meaning, and has had a different affect when said by non-blacks. I don't know when that changed, but in my eyes, non blacks shouldn't be saying it because of it's history. I would love to say that NOBODY SHOULD SAY IT, but that is completley unrealistic because it's just as much apart of black culture as soul food and jazz music. It just won't go away. The Nword historically always meant something else when it was used by a non black, that's why black people nowadays have the nerve to get mad in the first place. I don't buy the term of endearment shit because if it was a term of endearment, cats wouldn't be yelling "fuck that nigga" whenever it's a problem. I honestly can't define the Nword, and I don't buy any of the bullshit definitions I've heard in my lifetime. It is what it is.

i cant lie, asians/filipinos in the bay are some of the biggest offenders of that...i think asians in the bay are more inspired or subliminally influenced by rap culture though. that isnt necessarily 'cool' here in so cali.

like youll see all them asian kids on geary at jack in the box (or used to) in their big ass puffy jackets and fitted hats and lil gold chains, nothing against it i just notice a complete difference in style.

and thats a universal style, i dont think its a black thing. but saying nigga, imm up in the air about, even if im not offended. it is a tad outta pocket to be sayin it hella.

The word is used so many ways in our community it's crazy. It's not even just a noun. Why is this word so embedded in our speech?

Damn I really don't know bra that's why I said the word is so unique. There isn't another word that i know that's like it. It can be used in damn near every way. And it's definition changes depending on tone and who is saying it. I don't think anybody has the answer to how this word came to be what it is.....if I had to take a guess, I would say the hiphop world has played a big part in bringing the word to nerdy white/asian boys, but shit yo guess is as good as mines.

Completely bullshit logic.

Again, completely bullshit logic. You really have to be a new sort of ignorant to believe something like that. And F.Y.I.: the definition of 'nigga':

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...fC4KDsAQ&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title

I would love to say that NOBODY SHOULD SAY IT, but that is completley unrealistic because it's just as much apart of black culture as soul food and jazz music.
It's either all or nothin'. You can't selectively choose who can use what words and what forms of grammar. That's like telling people they're not allowed to speak French because they're not actually French, or that hearing people aren't allowed to use Sign Language.

It just won't go away. The Nword historically always meant something else when it was used by a non black, that's why black people nowadays have the nerve to get mad in the first place. If you can't define it, then why would you use it? That's even more ignorant than your previous statement. I'm guessing you're black, so I'm going to ask this question:

How mad would you get if a white guy approached you and confiscated certain articles of clothing, or certain CDs you own, because, "Only white people can wear that clothing and listen to that music"? You'd be pretty goddamned pissed, wouldn't you?

Seriously, that's like being put on a diet, and then watching your dietitian eat cake and cookies right in front of you. It's hypocritical as hell, and you're pretty ignorant for following such a routine.

I don't think non-black folks should say it. So what what the hip hop generation blacks or the baby boomer blacks say, some of our grandparents are still around and that shit is fucked up cuz people were calling them niggers /nigga and they don't say the word like that. Plus all throughout the internet and all this XBOXlive shit PSN, this same fools thats sayin "wassup my nigga?" is the same fool screaming "nigger!" at you when they mad.

Some traditions are intra-cultural and they should remain that way, it's rude for other cultures to think they have a right to barge up in other's shit.

And it's rude to tell other people they're not allowed to say a word that you use, because it's offensive only because they were born a different color than you were.

And, not that I use the 'n' word, but when black guys on XBox Live assume I'm white because I rip them a new asshole (for whatever reason), and make fun of me as such, I fully reserve the right to say whatever the fuck I want.

Most black people have no real grounds for telling others not to disrespect their race, when the first thing that comes out of almost every black person's mouth that I hear when a person of another race offends them (for a reason completely unrelated to race) is pertaining to the offender's race.

LMAO you can't be serious right now. The fact that you gave me a google definition of the word tells me that everything I said went completely over your head. And you have the nerve to call me ignorant? If you can't see that the word means different things to different ppl than yo sir are the ignorant one. If this word's definition was so clear cut there would be no debate and no reason for a black man to get mad about it.

I'm hoping you purposley missed the part where "I said black people say the word because it's been drilled into our culture," because if you read that, saying "why would you use the word if you can't define it" is just plain stupid. The word is used by black people because historically it has been engrained into black culture. For 200 years, the definition, and the affect of the word was different depending on who was saying it, if that wasn't a fact we wouldn't be having this discussion. "Never.Ignorant.Getting.Goals.Achieved." That's Pac's definition of the Nword. some people say Nigger and Nigga mean two different things. Some say it's all degratory, some say it's a term of endearment. NOW DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS?

"That's like telling people they're not allowed to speak French because they're not actually French, or that hearing people aren't allowed to use Sign Language." .....That is just stupid as fuck. Comparing the Nword to Sign Language and French is baseless. Like I said, there isn't a word in the dictionary that can compare to the N-Word because of the fact that it has so many different defintions, and a disputed etymology.

You are really missing the point bra. All your little analogies and exmples don't apply here because THEY DON'T HOLD THE SAME HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE AS THE NWORD. I don't know why black ppl started calling themselves "nigga," I assume it was because they wanted to lessen the negative and degrading affect that it had when it was used by non blacks. That doesn't mean that non blacks should now use it the way blacks do.

so i guess next time i hear pac's all eyez on me.. i'm going to change his song lyrics to " i want to be your S.A.N.C.H.O., so i can get drunk, and roll a blunt and get blowed", only because i'm not black and i'm not allowed to say that word...
