It had a few cool pieces but overall I was kinda disappointed. Its hard to find a well produced Bay music DVD with a good concept, nothing besides Treal TV ever worth watching twice.
This is just an OPINION so go buy the DVD and make your own mind up, I know Chinese Mike posts up on here, I respect his hustle and clearly he put a lot of time into the product.
The logos, the cover, the plug on speaking to so many cats was all him and I can't front on that, he did everything to make it a successful DVD that he could do.
But you can't just stick a camera in front of x amount of people and expect to have compelling viewing. In the end I was hoping for more music and variety and it didn't really have it.
The things which were tight... the whole Team broke it down on their interviews, they're really savvy cats and spit a lot of intelligent stuff about they business.
The freestyle session with Saafir and Ras Kass and Money B was sick, I guess I wasn't expecting that, I know Saafir and B are Bay but it was just kinda random... but off the hook.
FAB's 10 minute freestyle at Tower Records (?) was incredible and they had clips of the Jacka and Mall on the mic there too, but taken from one angle it wasn't really high quality.
Other than that it was just a bunch of cats not really saying much. I was hoping to hear more from Mall and PSD but they only said a few words. The Feds just introduced themselves.
I saw the cover with all the photos and assumed a lot of other Bay acts would be all over it, but a lot weren't (Messy, Quinn, Ya Boy, 40, Turf Talk etc.) others were just saying wassup.
And Keak only gave a shout out in passing in the corridor, they did show him in the booth for a minute also, but it was still disappointing from what I was expecting.
Besides that there were some cats whose music I cop but who I wasn't really interested to hear much more about, in any case most everyone else was just bragging for a minute or two.
Was only a couple of music videos which were pretty random, the Jacka one was on here in the past. And the only real show on there was a bad combination of Yuk and terrible audio.
That's just my feedback since I know a lot of cats read here to form an opinion. You should still go ahead and support this DVD if you want to see more flicks about artists out the Bay.
For me this one went quantity not quality, and quantity with no variety is kinda boring. It had no real concept or structure, just a bunch of interviews and shout outs.
People can say what they like about Thizz and their hustle but all the free DVD's they been putting out recently at least have energy, variety, lots of cuts and different clips of shows.
Ultimately its all about the music and style so that's what DVD's should be about, not one cat after another saying their piece. I'm going to cop that Mistah FAB DVD now to see whats really.
