I hate to use the expression "Hyphy MOVEMENT." Here's why: to me, a "movement" is where you're trying to make changes re: social/political issues, etc. But getting Hyphy is something that you do for fun. I don't see Hyphy as a "movement" per se that's going to change the world--it's just something fun to do. So, I usually just call it the "Hyphy Thing" (or "Thang", if you like, or maybe "The Hyphy Style"--feel free to make up your own term).

Basically, I support anything that can help the Bay rap scene get recognition after years of being ignored. But I hope that the Bay's revival doesn't end w/ Hyphy. What I mean is that for example, if Hyphy starts fading out mainstream-wise, hopefully there will be ANOTHER style from the Bay (whatever that ends up being) that can take Hyphy's place in terms of getting mainstream attention. That way, the media attention stays focused on the Bay for a little while longer. Otherwise, if the Bay's current revival re: getting the national attention ends completely once Hyphy fades, the Bay might be back in the same place that it was in late 1996 (after Tupac died). And that would be a shame.

PEACE!
