the most important thing i say to make it big in the music biz is promotion. i know theres alot of promotion for bay artists but its mostly within the bay. whats the whats the bay area promotion scene like outside of the bay like in hot spots like atlanta, nyc, chicago, houston, etc.? they got teams out there putting in hardwork like posting up flyers, word of mouth, promotional, etc.?

albums this year like champ bailey, shower posse, slap addict are better than 80% of the commercial shit that came out this year and its pretty cann for those artists still arent recognized in a larger scale.

This goes for everyone, not just the bay... Unfortunately a lot of 'artists' think promoting means making a myspace page and posting spam on message forums. Real promotion requires that you leave your house and interact with people in person. It costs money and it takes time.

a lot of people spend most of their budget on radio promo and ignore the street teams out here or figure giving they potnas some flyers is taking it too the streets. then they get 4 total spins on the radio

I've been hittin stations out here and out spreadin the word for a handful of artists and labels out there in the Bay as well as the lazy Myspace thing, the way I see it you have to hit people by every way available.

Yes it takes multiple methods to promote your music successfully. Radio, TV, Magazine, Flyer, Posters, Internet all help! Getting out there and networking helps too. Most people fail in this department, thats why they don't sell in stores....Just my 2 cents....

as far as mainstream bay area its coo...but alot of the shit is half assed makin it look bad quality rapper,cd or whatever it may be...but i guessed they about THEIR money and not really streesin on promo

there is no proper way to promote out here....you gotta be everywhere at every function with cd's to give away......and then new shit ina month...and new shit ina month....try radio...but um.....you know it's a country club out here on that note...if you in you in...if you ain't you ain't....but uh...some cats is gettin 100 spins in like a week or whatever and still only sellin 5,000 cd's...ya know.....it ain't popped out here yet...but it will...
