they're from the bay too, but u barely hear about them on this board, a lot of yall never heard any of their shit, but they all been makin bigger moves then the cats i listed, they all got fans nation and world wide & doin WORLD TOURS, and has been gettin their VIDEOS played on MTV2 and other stations for years now.

dont get it twisted i aint tryna start a debate on whos better and shit like that, cuz i buy ALL of the CDs ALL the cats i listed put out, im just tryna get some opinions on how yall would feel if any of those cats made it to the "mainstream" first, cuz to me bay hip-hop is totally divided.

right on to mark 7 for puttin shit like zion i, del, the coup, etc. in his mixes so the ones who hasnt heard any of their shit get a taste of it

I would think its better than any gangsta rappers blowing up... anyone putting out a positive righteous message has a better effect on people than people putting out gangsta shit. Thats just the real story. I dont listen to the hip hop side of things as much, but it it definitely more uplifting and educational.

That said, I think a rapper that blends both -- like 2Pac at times, or Nas, etc. -- is the most effective at elevating a lot of young people's perceptions who maybe are down with "social consciousness" or whatever but they hear their favorite rapper spittin some knowledge and they soak it.

i would be happy no matter who from the yay blew up....u cant get mad at 1 kat from the bay blowing up like so many do at baby beesh....and then say its ok though if quinn gets major....its ALL BAY LOVE.....and i went to a living legends show..they packed that muthafucka out ....

its all good.. but i dont think they are what majors are looking for which is unfortunate cause they got talent.

the bay in general has talent... period

heiro helped but the bay on the map back in the early 90s with their smash hit 93 till infinity (souls of mischief)...if you dont know, you need to know. plus like others have stated, they are the pure essence of bay area indie rap. their company is still headed outa the bay and makes that $$$ worldwide on a steady basis selling ghetto gold numbers and with an extremely succesful merchandise catalog. bay area rap game at its finest.

even before that, del had' mr. dobolina'... these cats really really gave the bay attention on the early 90's which a lot of people dont know today.

that hiero song that they are playing on the radio is called "talk dirty" by opio... and the other song getting airplay is a colabo with quinn and casual that will be release by TD Camp.. hes is a producer of that classic bored stiff shit and he is coming out with a bay area compilation album that is combining all of these bay cats (gangsta and back pack) on one cd.. make sure you cop that when it comes out.

also check out CO-DEEZ... these cats are from oakland and are HELLA tight.
