a lot of banks won't cash a check for you period, if you do not have an account with them...i know washington mutual is like that...but they fucking suck.

most banks i've been to in washington won't even let you do that...i don't think wamu or bank of amerika does that...BOA might, but not wamu...you basically have to have a bank account if you want to be able to cash checks...unless you go to a check cashing place or the bank the check was written from...then i believe, they are obligated to cash it for you.
