i dropped my first album in the bay in 1985 with mike mosley, i dropped my second album in the bay in 1988 with cuttin sutton, i aint exactly a new jack. my business partner mike mosley invented the mobb movememnt. southern cali call it gangsta music, bay calls it mobb shit, still all gangsta shit to me, a 25 year rap veteran

as a matter of fact, hit KEak on Myspace and ask him if he's ever considered himself a Gangsta Rapper??
hit yuk or the mobb figaz and ask them and they'll tell u they all gangsta for life. gangsta rap is a title that media came up with to describe rappers who rapped about guns, crimes, drugs and so on... that label can be used to describe all rappers who fit that description, just ice from ny, scarface from houston, ice-t from southern cali, and spice 1 from the bay. the bay took that gangsta shit to another level with the mobb shit...

Yuk's a Mobb Nigga...he says it himself "Regime MOBB" compared to Spice to where he always said "the mutha fuckin east bay gangsta" as far as the MOb Figgaz..well the name says it itself. What i'm trying to say is Overall The bay is known for its MObb sound, there is no Major gangs in the bay for it to label our music as "gangsta"...u might think its the same shit, but its not. get low records, the dangerous crew, 415, and sicwidit records of old werent yelling any Gang related stuff abck then let alone now with this new Hyphy Movement... and just to throw this in there...Spice1 and C-Bo, and brotha lynch were the only one's holding it down when it came down to this GAngsta Rap in NOrthern Ca.(thats just my opinion)

its all semantics, i say tomato, you say tamato. bein a blood or a crip aint got nothin to do with gangsta rap. ice cube, dr dre aint never banged and they're two of the best that ever did it. snoop, WC, eazy-e, mitchy slick, gonzoe, all have gang affiliations and are all considered GANGSTA RAPPERS, not GANG RAPPERS. as i stated before nobody on the planet came more gangsta than scarface, just because he aint an LA blood or crip dont mean he aint a gangsta rapper. just cause AP9 spits on so called mobb trax dont make him any less of a gangsta rapper. jim jones and dipset are all claimin blood now, but i dont call them gangsta rappers just cause they wear rags of one color or another. and lets not forget about assassin the bay area OG who been spittin that gangsta shit for over a decade. nobody can tell me that he aint a gangsta rapper. hes harder than 90% of all them so called southern cali rappers.

and as far as i can remember, with yukmouth, its always been regime gang, not regime mobb. he may have used the phrase, but hes always claimed REGIME GANG...

u can stick with your tomato and i'll stick with my tamato...even though u've been in the game alot longer then i've experienced it, we've both seen the bay area rap game change from the early 80's to 2006 and i'm sticking to my script when i say that overall the Bay Area is not known for its gangtsa rap, you might have a couple of stragglers that consider themselves Gangsta Rappers but they dont paint the picture for the rest of the bay. And your right about the media labeling it as gangster rap, but one thing i have noticed especially now is that whenever someone from the bay is in the spotlight they're described as ""Bay Area Rapper" or "Oakland Rapper" as to someone from outside the bay like snoop... who's always been described as "Gangster Rapper Snoop Dogg" not "Long Beach Rapper Snoop Dogg"...Maybe we should come up with another name for our overall style of music...and not to knock on Yuk cuz i got his shit from beginning to end and i'm still waiting for that Million Dollar Mouthpiece to come out!!! but i would like to see what other people on this forum have to say bout this subject other then me and DjPimp going back and fourth....

C'mon folkz , you from Toronto...this is B.A.R.T, your qualifications just arent there.
your logic disturbs me, what does my geographical location have anything to do with this subject? i can't hear music like you can? get the fuck outta here

it's quite simple what dj pimp is saying it's all "gangsta" rap whether you call it mobb music or whatever folks wish to call it, it's still gangster rap it fits into that category

simple, nuff said, silence please on this matter

didnt mean to get you all puff'd up like a pissed off toad...but what u have to realize is that your catergorizing the muzik coming out of my neck of the woods from the outside looking in...and me and DjPimp both residing from the bay area(Pimp now in NYC) know exactly what were talking about even though we have a difference of opinions about the subject. Theres nothing wrong with that...compared to other threads that DjPimp has been involved in, this is actually a very good one. No name calling, no threats, no hating, no one getting banned and the thread hasnt been shut down...so whats the problem? i'm sure DjPimp would agree with me on this one

by the way, i never start name calling untill someone talks shit about me first... so this thread still has plenty of time to turn to shit.... we shall see.
