this is one part of the rap game that i could do without. the rap game is filled with ego maniacs who have an inflated idea of their own importance. rappers that are good think they're the best. rappers that are weak think they're hella dope. even djs and producers have devveloped ego maniac personalities. managers and promoters also have developed ego maniac perssonalities.

and the best rappers i deal with are all cool as fuck down to earth people and not ego-maniacs at all.

just a topic i want to hear your opinions on.

I think you somewhat have to be. Hip Hop was built on that competitive spirit.

I think the problem is that most of these rappers aren't street anymore.

Like Jay Z this motherfucker thinks he is some god of rap and he can just do whatever because he has this legacy behind him.

Jay Z walks around like he is from Europe, dude needs to put on some Reeboks and go back to marcy.

More often than not I've noticed this to be true:

The greater the "artist" sucks the greater their ego.

The greater the artist's realized talent the greater their humility.

I think it is a survival thing. They have to continually pump themselves and those around them up as a way to justify them continuing with something they clearly should not be spending so much time/money/effort on.

The more time you spend telling me how dope you are the more I believe you're not dope at all.


Dealing with it is the easy part if you just remember the above.

i think having a competitive spirit and being an ego maniac are two different things though. every rapper should feel confident about their mc abilities with that i agree. but when you talk to people you just met and your ideas seem so far fetched and not grounded in reality it's hard to deal with for me atleast.

i don't think a rapper being street really got anything to do with the thread topic though.

Now what I am saying about street is not on some shootem up shit.

But more like when a lot of these rappers get money they forget where they came from and how it was to be a common person.

They get lazy and have huge egos and loose that hunger which put them on in the first place.

I let shit go in one ear and out the other. I live my life. I don't have time to listen to ignorance whether it's about rap, or what ever it is. Same goes for people who hate. I don't have time to sit there and get down to the bottom as to "why." I don't give a shit, that's not my problem.

I listen to what I can use and the bullshit, I throw it out like tuesday's trash.

Keep shit movin' forward and never look back unless it's a memory worth remembering.

behind the scenes, all rappers are regular people. that might be because i dont deal with rappers on business levels, im usually smoking with them or chopping it up. so they just seem like regular folks to me. i guess ive been blessed to not get the ego part from anyone. and if they did have an ego i just sorta laughed at it because i knew it was part of the game. like i know alot of rappers who always wanna fuckin rap, dont never wanna shut up they wanna play they music in your car, rap rap rap, you can tput a fuckin song on without them tryna rap on it....those arent necessarily egotistical rappers theyre just big mouths...

most rappers suprise me on being so down to earth and cool, i do know alot that put on a front in public but i dont hold it against them, because if they looked like regular people everyone wouldnt be attracted to what they do.

the only thing that bothers me is people who feel the need to wear designer shades at small ass parties between homies and shit, like mutha fucka take your shades off were underneath a tarp at a bbq

but thats just an issue with me wanting to be able to see peoples eyes i guess.

and one thing about growing up out here, i dont know if its like this where you guys live...if you start getting too big for your home the wolves will turn on you....so at the end of the day its best to stay humble anyway because once people feel like youre actin like youre better than everyone else... your gonna get turned on.

so really, as a individual...you should know theres a thin line between your ego and keeping it real with your homies

if you get a bag of chips you better share....dont be eatin that bag of chips in front of people who may want some without asking...i think thats the difference between the dude who cant go back to his old hood and the dude that can go back and get a home cooked meal from someone elses mother..

nah i do that too. shows, video shoots and studios. theyre the same cats to me, just regular people getting work done.

i mean when everyones around the same age you cant front too much. someone knows your real background as a kid, someone knows who you are now, what you do for a living, if you grind at all, small ass city when it comes to rap and it seems everyone knows everyone somehow, or if they dont they know someone who knows them.

so really if you act that role and youre not that everyones just gonna think youre a faker and you wont be allowed around those people. i mean its kinda one thing when youre making a little bank. thats a street issue if someone wants to rob you. but i dont see much ego really rap is based on braggodocio lyrics so i expect it

but the people at home know the real, i know people who brag about chronic all day and dont ever smoke it....but its sorta no big deal because thats their insecurity...

eh im bored on lunch break and thinking dont mind me..at the end of the day i feel like the rappers i see are being business minded and leaving the ego in the booth..

well i don't know. I am a rapper so i can't tell you what it's like to deal with rappers when you're not a rapper

and you wouldn't know what it's like to be a rapper having encounters with other rappers

no, i would know, i just stopped rapping at some point and started actually getting money. i see what you mean but out here, its pretty much all love unless its a street thing.

might be different with you cuz maybe them dudes wanna test you?

street rappers, street issues
but besides that it dont seem too much like an ego thing

People who rap/sing seem to get a euphoric crack like high from hearing their own voice played back weather it sounds good or not

so of course their recordings must be the shit if it gives them such great highs

their ego just goes to show you how ignorant they are. dont work with ego maniacs unless you absolutley have to then just cut them off as soon as your done
