R&B got it wrong years ago by getting rid of the real instruments. I was listening to the Sinatra channel on Serious Satelite and thats the real shit.

These songs were made because jodeci was the bomb to pac and e40. They were all fans of each others music. Now the collaborations only happen if all parties are on the same label or if your just trying to wagon ride on someone’s name like akon or neyo ect.

Times have changed, these guys were in the studio together at some point. Now it’s shoot me your verse to a track that I didn’t even write knowing who it was for. You think there’s any magic in that?

Fucki it.. I thought it was cool when ja rule did a song with bobby brown a few years ago. it was cool. Im not a fan of t-pain, however I do enjoy some of his songs because of the complexity of how he did it. He is the modern day zapp and rodger. Dont blame the rappers, blame the fucking RADIO. Im convinced that they dont play what people want, they end up making the people want what they play. You feel me? So people make GAY shit to get on the radio. Its a trip because I know a few rappers trying to cover all bases and it ends up hurting them.

same reason why rappers now dont "rap" like they used to...
R&B got it wrong years ago by getting rid of the real instruments. I was listening to the Sinatra channel on Serious Satelite and thats the real shit.
The decline of R&B and the decline of rap are closely related. I think it started from rap though, with the restrictions placed on sampling in the mid 90s and the shift from live instrumentals and samples to computer-generated music. Which automatically means less melodic sound, and because the interaction with the instrument is lost, also less creativity. R&B songs used to have melody in them, now it is exactly the same thing being sung in every song, it's annoying as fuck

There was no reason for R&B to be influenced by the sampling restrictions, after all, in R&B you have always had to write your own music, however, a lot of the major labels had the same people working on the interface between rap, pop and R&B, and that's why this happened. The way the most popular and influential music was made had to fit all genres, including rap, and that's what they did. Timbaland is the perfect example of how the transition happened.

If you look at R&B artists like Dwele who make their own music most of the time, they still make great music, just as in the 90s

You can say what you want about t-pain, like it or not, yes he is. Just like old movies and cars, you always think that the original is the best because that was what was hot when you were a young age. But its just your opinion. If you dont belive me, check records sales. Still dont belive me? Check out t-pain as a producer, you got to give credit where its due. He OWNS the autotune style and his beats are topnotch as far as production goes.... To me the talkbox was used and abused more then autotune (thats changing as I type) and the vocoder can be used in so many ways (diffrent settings and sounds) that its wide open. Plus, t-pain can do it live which can be a big problem for most.
