I really don't understand why fighters really care about belts anymore. I just recently found out how much those sanctioning body fees are. That's outrageous. I know it can set you up for bigger fights but the fighters should get together and just say screw em.

^^Well, Hopkins cares because it's his legacy (becoming the oldest person in boxing history to win a world championship).

I doubt Pascal cares as much, so I fully expect him to take on Dawson and to be stripped (and lose to Dawson anyway).

Smart move by Hopkins. If pascal goes with Dawson, Hopkins can push for Bute and a make a lot of money in that fight. And destroy another Canadian hype job in the process.


Hopkins: I Want To Wipe The Canadian Fighters Out!

Former two division champion Bernard Hopkins has attacked full steam at the boxers of Canada. During the live broadcast of ESPN's Friday Night Fights, Hopkins revealed his declaration of war on the country of Canada. The WBC recently ordered an immediate rematch between Hopkins and light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal. They fought to a controversial twelve round majority draw in December.

Hopkins wants to eliminate Pascal in the rematch, and then he wants to eliminate Lucian Bute, the IBF super middleweight champion.

“After I beat Pascal,” Hopkins said, “I'd like to go in and get [Lucian] Bute, and wipe out all the Canadian fighters.”
