Oakland is like that because the people in charge like it like that rule by fear. This guy was most likely trying to do good bye using the press to speak up and speak out about shit that was going on. Some suit running shit got sick of him and sent a message. Keep your mouth shut or get shot. Its sad and that why oakland is not growing like san jose or san francisco nobody wants to invest money in oaktown. They keep trying to fix up the downtown area they need to fix the hood first. Knocking some old buildings and warehouse's down to build condos and townhouses is not enuff.

gas i understand what your saying and i think my post may have came out wrong. people lke that need to be silienced, true, but the people who are worried about what he has to say, and likely the poepe who ordered him dead, work for the city. the same city that pays these police officers who are shooting 15 yr old kids in the head. you would think that this man (the one who got killed) would be praised for raising questions about corruption of the city, the corruption on a street level that would affect you and me out there in the streets. they dont give a fcuk about any of yall in east or west or north oakland. the peopel in city hall work for those sittin pretty in the hills, and this man was fighting against that. then he gets murdered and you guys are like

Man... shit like this is so depressing, I originally was going to type up my reactions and elaborate on them but after reading the responses in this thread I decided otherwise.
Reading some of what you guys said really just further shows the ignorance and bullshit that surrounds our generation and youth. When Messy Marv got sent to jail for holding an illegal firearm, hundreds of people rushed into these threads to spam free someone who really doesn't GIVE a FUCK about you. But when someone who actually did and lived up to what most people only talk about, that is, when someone who worked to give back and better the community dies, people come in here and try to justify his death by saying he was a snitch. Its always "me first" these days, dont nobody give a fuck anymore. Our world is so fucked up, from our communities to the federal government, in more ways than one.
Ignorance is one of the things I truly cannot stand in people, and it seems like its becoming more and more prevalent especially in our youth and current generations. People got reality and fiction so fucked up these days, it's people like this man who we as a community, especially the hiphop community should be looking up to, and not these rappers. If hiphop truly embodies the essence of working from nothing to something, then it is the mailmen, the 9-5 worker, the journalists, the moms and dads who are SACRAFICING to raise their children right, its those people we should Glorify as the hiphop community; instead of D-boys and senseless bullshit. Tell me that aint the truth.
