Between the “Lick Bush”, "Go Green", "bush never won" and the little gay rainbows, I’ve seen these “Dissent is noble/patriotic/etc” bumper stickers quite a bit lately.

Anyone else seen these?

COME ON! Dissenting is not noble, most of the time it’s just whining from a minority of people who’s opinion was rejected by the mass body politic.

If someone dissents on the issue of integration and argues that we should return to the days of Jim Crow, are they noble?

Being a sore loser does not make you noble. It just makes you a bitch.

It is not so much about the bumper sticker itself (though they are extremely weak) as it is assuming that because your ideas are shunned by the majority that some how that makes your dissent noble. Which, it isn't.

But thank you for not being disrespectful even though you disagree.

i can refute and debate without getting personal... which seem's as if many of your cohort's have yet to comprehend..

however... your trying to tell me that nobility isn't speaking up when your the minority? i think thats much more respected in peoples eyes then going with the mainstream and not having a thought conjured for your own..

Horrible example. If minorities didn't dissent, then Jim Crow laws would still be in place.

It is a perfect example. You're saing that a present day person who opposes integration would not be in the minority and would be noble in their defense of reverting back to the days of Jim Crow?

Is NAMBLA noble too?

"Dissent is noble/patriotic" are how they read. They don't say dissent is noble some of the time and other times it really isn’t.

It is cry baby sore losers who need a way to try and make their marginalized insignificant opinions seem mainstream. Thus they attempt to characterize their dissent as noble or a patriotic cause. It is neither. Just as NAMBLA is not noble and reverting back to Jim Crowe is not noble, both examples of dissent.

^^i think his point is that there is at least some dissent that has to led to change, or productivity. not all dissent is just another label for "whining".

all in all, its a bumper sticker. they are only made for people to look at, read, and go "what the fuck? thats rediculous". they just want to get ur goat. try not to let it bother u too much.
