Jairo Martin Navarro-Nunez
The case: A 24-year-old man was arrested on sex charges involving his live-in 14-year-old girlfriend.
Jairo Martin Navarro-Nunez was indicted on a number of sex abuse charges involving his girlfriend. He was living with the girl and her grandmother at the grandmother's home in Hillsboro. The girl's mother left Oregon, and Navarro-Nunez was helping pay the rent at the grandmother's home.
He admitted to police that he was having sex with the girl, whom he said he'd known for two years and lived with for a month before moving into the grandmother's home.
The relationship came to light when the girl told counselors at her school about Navarro-Nunez and said she hoped to one day marry him.
Update: Navarro-Nunez pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court on July 14 to four counts of second-degree sexual abuse. Other charges, including rape, sodomy and menacing, were dismissed.
What's next: A date for sentencing for Navarro-Nunez has not been set, according to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.
