I got a 'loaner' instinct until my phone is eligible for upgrade in a couple weeks. How the fuck do I make it so that it plays my ringtone when I get a phone call, but only vibrates when I get a text?

I don't own the phone but if it's not possible like armen says I would try this:

If you can set two different tones one for sms and one for calls. Have a regular ringtone for calls, but get a silet ringtone for sms. Like an mp3 with no sound. Your phone may still have a vibrate+ring option which would get you your pocket vibrator action you are looking for.

i just checked the settings and it doesnt allow it, just lets you turn vibrate on or off

and you can only set audible tones for contacts

your SOL dana, the only thing i can think of is what likwid said

you can add a soundless mp3 to your list of ringtones and set them one by one to contacts, but even then, it doesnt seperate text and phone calls =\
