The nigga didn't say he was the King of the Bay...FREESTYLE KING. Yall aint listening. What other rapper in the industry does ALL FREESTYLE mixtapes, and gases on every track? Crooked I claimed his 52 Week song thing was freestyle, but I don't believe that shit for one min. FAB is unique in what he does because nobody else does it as good. That's why he calls himself the Freestyle King.
The Homie Paco a.k.a Phlex can freestyle better then Fabby. He's not as great of a freestyler as you think he is. lol.

The Era of KMEL Battles was a real good look for the Bay Area. I'm curious Gary Archer...If Fab didn't know who he would battle the week after next, meaning he could not be prepared for Lock in this case...Wouldn't that mean that all of the Battles that Lock won post FAB was based on artist he knew nothing about? At the end of the day FAB, Frontline and The TEAM have all created music that could have been REALLY well respected Nationwide...It's not the artist fault that the Bay was foolish enough to follow a FAD based on a lack of talent, pills and jerky dance moves. Awolf said that punchlines don't matter as long as your coming off the top of the head, but then says that it's cool to have punchlines ready for the battle...isn't the point to win? Isn't the point to make the best impression on the listening auidence? I think that throwing random words from the audience is a gimmick. It's kinda cute when I see people do it, but it doesn't prove that you are a quality artist, quick thinker maybe...lyrical beast not even close. Super Nat is a beast with the freestyle, but he can't record a good record to save his life. I wonder if Awolf or Fab would have "won" those Battles would we be having this convo? Because there was another battle to get to the MTV battle that wasn't on KMEL and the winner went to NY for the MTV battle. So what happend there? Was those battles set up like the radio ones or did it go in a bracket form like March Madness, if so then he had to beat whoever fell at his feet. I'm not taking anything away from Awolf or Fabby, but shit give Lock credit for not only winning, but also repping for the Bay in NY and then coming back and making quality albums.

The rules of a rap battle need to be considered in order to judge the battle properly. If its a freestyle (off the top of the head) battle then thats what it needs to be. When I made the comment on punchlines this is what i meant. An emcee who is comin with witty off the top punchlines while following the rules should win over a dude comin with monster punchlines while breaking the rules. In other words if you aint supposed to write and you obviously do then that needs to be taken into consideration when it comes to the judges. Thats why me and Locks first battle was a tie. Did he come harder then me in 3 outta of the 5 rounds? Yes. Was he obviously spitten writtens? Yes. Was I? No. The judges understood that and called it a tie. If a running back pulls out a pistol and shoots the dude trying to tackle him at the one yard line should the touchdown still count? You gotta follow the rules!! Of course punchlines are important but how you develop them is more important. And on the subject of Lock knowing who he was gonna battle...I cant speak for all his battles but I do know that he knew for 3 weeks he was gonna battle me and he knew who I was. In fact, I think he only battled 2 other dudes besides me before Von pulled the plug on the battles. That was after me and lock's second battle. And he never was given a win over me. The KMEL execs pulled the plug on us in round 3 of our 2nd battle and trust me, he was on his way to a loss. In fact, it shouldnt have even gone to a second round. Before Lock and I battled for the first time there were no second rounds. Another rule that was invented on the spot by Von. And you sure do know alot about the KMEL NY MTV battle...hmmmm were you there? Did you see who the final four were? FAB, AWOLF, LOCK AND LEFT. Guess how that final four was matched up. FAB vs AWOLF (fourth time we battled) Lock vs Left (fellow group members and best friends) Seem a little fishy??? So your partially right except for the fact that Lock ice skated into the finals with his groupmate purposely taking a loss for him to get in.

Anyway, I dont take nothin from dude because he is a dope lyricist..This is strictly on the subject of rap battles. His verses are always impressive but even them rap battle writtens are just ok. Nothin amazing. Its his mean delivery during the battle that is the convincing part..

Peace..

A-Wolf, do you feel blame for killing the battles on KMEL? I mean, after you said fucking on the radio, the show was over and battles were never mentioned again, right? lol

No...Not at all. In fact, the plug was pulled because of the Michael Martin comments and the gay references as far as we were told that night. I mean come on, locks every other word was bitch and still was within radio guidelines. They have a delay and dump button they could have easily dumped (bleeped out) me cursing. Fact is, and this is what I was told from a popular Sik Wid It DJ and 94.9 radio personality and former chop shop member who's name will go unmentioned. "Von was never gonna let you win." "Thats why the plug got pulled on the battles." Aint a big deal though just good fun and competition. At the end of the day I respect all them dudes out there grindin it out for hip hop.

smh. Off subject but because it was brought up- Bay area artists and their supporters need to really examine who should be carrying the blame for our artists not getting the attention nation wide that they should- from fab to lock we have a lot of talent here in the bay. The battles were a great moment in our history...so sad they were so short lived and that we allow these radio stations have so much control over what WE hear on the radio.

You seem to be on some Serious conspiracy theory shit buddy...You have a twist for everything. But not to debunk your theory, but if I remember correctly MTV and KMEL explained how finalists were selected ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. It similar to how the show conducted the battle...in other words if you followed the battle and have a decent memory- this was common knowledge.

LOL..No conspiracy theories here homie..it aint that serious. Im tellin you what happened cuz i was there. On the subject of the MTV battle, MTV had zero say in how the battles were set up across the country. They were set up by local radio. Bracket style battles and like I said when it came down to the final four in San Francisco it was me, fab, lock and left. The way they set up the the semi finals was shady. They shouldnt have matched lock verse left. They didnt even battle. They held hands and hyped the crowd for 2 rounds setting lock up for the win cuz they wanted to see lock in the finals. Its that simple. Thats fact not conspiracy. Anybody that was there would tell u that. No reason to smack a dead horse in the snout..Well over!! Peace to everyone and happy new year..

a wolf beats his dog and still snatches purses at the park. great ethics for a 42 year old battle rapper.

So in the final round who Battled and who won? You Lost to FAB or Fab lost to you and I assume one of you battled Locksmith and he won because he was the one in NY. At the end of the to be honest with you I could care less about the battles as a fan I am curiously waiting to hear Fabby's album, because he has built it up to be Detox or some shit. I can say the same for Clyde Carson. I can't wait for the Frontline's new shit to drop whenever the hell that is...so some Really goodthings came from this battle. The Bay w building on solid artist and then Hyphy came and killed that.
