The Era of KMEL Battles was a real good look for the Bay Area. I'm curious Gary Archer...If Fab didn't know who he would battle the week after next, meaning he could not be prepared for Lock in this case...Wouldn't that mean that all of the Battles that Lock won post FAB was based on artist he knew nothing about? At the end of the day FAB, Frontline and The TEAM have all created music that could have been REALLY well respected Nationwide...It's not the artist fault that the Bay was foolish enough to follow a FAD based on a lack of talent, pills and jerky dance moves. Awolf said that punchlines don't matter as long as your coming off the top of the head, but then says that it's cool to have punchlines ready for the battle...isn't the point to win? Isn't the point to make the best impression on the listening auidence? I think that throwing random words from the audience is a gimmick. It's kinda cute when I see people do it, but it doesn't prove that you are a quality artist, quick thinker maybe...lyrical beast not even close. Super Nat is a beast with the freestyle, but he can't record a good record to save his life. I wonder if Awolf or Fab would have "won" those Battles would we be having this convo? Because there was another battle to get to the MTV battle that wasn't on KMEL and the winner went to NY for the MTV battle. So what happend there? Was those battles set up like the radio ones or did it go in a bracket form like March Madness, if so then he had to beat whoever fell at his feet. I'm not taking anything away from Awolf or Fabby, but shit give Lock credit for not only winning, but also repping for the Bay in NY and then coming back and making quality albums.
