damn i just got done watching the gerald mcclellan vs nigel benn fight. i forgot just how crazy this fight was, i mean its been probably 5 years or more since seeing it, but if you havent seen this, its a great fight.
this is the 1995 fight held in England with Don King and Frank Bruno ringside along with England cheering on Champion Nigel Benn against young american Gerald McClellan. Thirty seconds into the first round McClellan knocks Benn through the ropes and onto the canvas almost onto the ringside table. Somehow Benn comes back amazingly at the count of 9 only to get damn near knocked out again later in the fight. After being alowed to punch the back of McClellans head all night long Benn won the fight with Gerald McClellan taking two knees before finally walking to and then collapsing in his corner, being put in a neck brace and onto a stretcher.
He was never the same. The fight left Gerald McClellan blind, nearly deaf, and can barely walk. Unfortunately, McClellan's damaged brain has erased many of his memories, including those of his career, his fights, and his friends.
