Yeah I think we are talking about different things. I am not talking about Cleganbowl (which I am totally fine with) I am talking about the shows more recent progression towards cliffhanger and misdirection.

The "in the books" equivalent would something like GRRM writing "Illyn Payne's sword was lifted high into the sky and above Ned's head. The end. Tune in next book to read whether Ned's head gets chopped off or whether Illyn has a last second change of heart"

An episode should never be ended like that, it is a cheap way to create suspense. Let the story create the suspense not the timing of the information.
Lots of his chapters end in cliffhangers. You just finish a long POV of whomever some crazy shit is going down then you spend the next eight chapters reading POVs from eight different people before finally getting back to whomever! For the watch? Longest fucking cliffhanger ever.

Its funny how everyone thinks there's more gravity to a show when the dead stay dead. Now we've had the following "resurrections":

Berric Donadarian
Jon Snow
The Hound
Lady Stoneheart
Probably Arya
They haven't done L. S. and still might not we've yet to see what actually happened with Arya. And the Hound wasn't resurrected he basically was brought back from sepsis on the verge of death

Seems to be the consensus going around the webz though..

I had no idea who LS was until i just looked her up...i dont know if it would be bad fuckin ass or really fuckin stupid at this point. Stealth is right, that would be 4 "resurrections" in one fuckin season. Overkill much? No pun intended.
Whoops lol... sorry for spoiling shit, this threads been pretty tightlipped about it this whole time but ultimately it's probably not going to happen anyway

If it did happen, well then I think they'd basically be admitting that they're trying to fill out time with extra content and stall for GRRM a little bit, because I'm pretty sure they basically said without flatout saying it that she wasn't coming back.

Oh no its all good at this point. Shits all over the internet.

There was an interview with the chick who played Lady Stark back in 2014 where she "respected the writers for killing the character"...well duh, its in the fuckin book! Did you not know going in?
At the time a lot of people assumed she would be back as lady stone heart, the actress playing Cersei even tweeted a picture of stones like as a teaser as if she thought lady stone heart was coming, but it never happened.

Personally I don't think they should bring the character to the show at this point. I think there's enough going on as it is and would make things weird/confusing, especially if they make her like how she is in the books which is essentially a zombie with a huge cut in her throat. It's kind of weird in the book too and idk where GRRM is going with her.

Plus, and I don't know if its because I always hated Catelyn stark and thought she was a goddamned moron to begin wtih, but basically Brienne spends an entire book and a half wandering around then doesn't she come face to face with L.S.? And she's like "You betrayed your oath and you must pay" lol she's even being a dumb cunt in "the afterlife". What're they going to do, have her kill Brienne after Brienne saved Sansa then Sansa sent her away? Why? to Hammer in how much of a stupid bitch she is?

On some real shit...i hella thought Gendry was Poderick (they look similar to me). There is talk of Gendry possibly showing back up at some point...
now THAT would be fan service. They basically just had him disappear on that rowboat instead of killing him off like in the books, which sparked the "still rowing" memes. To bring him back would be liek... uhhh ok

I didn't care for lady stone heart in the books at all. I do like the brotherhood though, but shit just got weird with her and again, I have no idea wtf grrm is planning with her character, like what is her real purpose, be a dumb cunt like you say for revenge? The show should save that for GRRM to figure out.

Idk why people talk about him and make a big deal, he's insignificant who cares where he is or if he lived or died? Oh he's a bastard! Yeah him and half of kings landing who gives a shit, Robert supposedly had dozens of bastard kids.

This doesn't really even feel like the same show anymore.

Has something happened? Did writers get fired? What's going on??

Possibly it's just too familiar now / I'm losing interest. It's also possible that I was invested in a certain character that either died or is getting less camera time as of late, or the cast has gotten too big for me to keep up with.

But the quality of the show has declined right??

How so? The storylines are a lot different so that's probably why it feels so different. Cersei was an evil powerful cunt, now she has no power and has no control, the religious nuts have seized control of kings landing. Jon Snow had left the black. Sansa is with Snow along with Davos. Arya is being trained/now hunted by the faceless men. Tyrion is in Meereen. Everything is flipped upside down from how it started first couple seasons. Dany is essentially the same though still looking to go to westeros some day lol

This season they've been able to focus more on storylines instead of last season jumping around from plot to plot every five minutes. I like the pacing better this season for the most part, I think the final three episodes will be the "big" episodes that it's lacked so far.
