The classic fight thread inspires this. It was in the mid 90’s around 96. There was a white boxer getting pummeled by sum Latino cat. Foreman and the announcers were just rippin this white fighter a new one. Saying he has no heart he shouldn’t box a disgrace to boxing all that. He’s not defending himself.and shit. And out the blue in the later rounds the white guy throws a left hook to the body and the Latino fighter folds like a cardboard box in pain (screaming)*they called it the mexican liver punch* and the white dude after 9-10 rounds of being beaten to a bloody pulp wins by K.O.. I have the Ward vs Emmanuel Augustus fight on DVD. This actually was a fight of the year. Based on your description, I don't think it's this fight because for one, Augustus is Black and two it was a back-and-forth fight, from the opening bell to the finish. Ward definitely wasn't getting his ass beat - they both were exchanging hard punches the entire fight.
Ward was criticized during the fight though because it was supposed to be an easy win for him (Augusts took the fight on a two week notice).
BTW, Emmanuel Augustus is my favorite Journeyman fighter. His record is something like 34 wins, 28 losses. This guy will literally dance for entire rounds and make up new fighting styles - sometimes he moves around like he's drunk, lol. He's fucking tight. He's actually a much better fighter than his record indicates and has fought some of the best - Floyd Mayweather actually struggled with him a bit and he's the only person I can remember that made Mayweather bleed. The reason he loses so much is because he'll fight anyone, anytime and also because he views himself as an entertainer first, fighter second. So he'll always try to make the crowd laugh, etc. Also, because of boxing politics he often gets robbed of decisions.
