I'm all for free speech, put it in stores and see how it sells..... In my opinion he should get the fuck out of our country if he feels that way though....

Whatever happened to pride in America ? We've got the best nation in the world, we need to stop bitching and whining and start acting like it...

here's wut paris got to say bout this post (he emailed me):

Peace,

It's all good. I went by the site and it was just as I suspected - those
w/negative opinions haven't read the reasoning behind it. If they knew the
truth about Bush's involvement I'm sure they'd see shit differently. Tell
'em to visit the site for me, would you? For some reason I'm having trouble
subscribing with Netscape. I'll download Explorer later...

As for the "sellout" talk, it can be argued that everyone who goes to work
is "selling out"...fuck being broke...broke revolutionaries played out in
the '60s. Now I'm able to reach folks & create opportunity. As I say on
the site - economic depression is oppression.

You can please some of the people some of the time...

Stay up & in touch.

Peace,
PARIS

fold.

ayo!
Hey for all you haters if you think about it, revolutionaries are more patriotic than people who want to keep life the way it is. For all you folks that say that what Paris is doing is bad you for one haven't read his writings (he doesn't want any harm on bush). By him trying to change things, he is showing that he cares more than all you that are sitting on your asses complaining (about the police, schools, minority power, being broke, health care) and not doing shit. If he is actually doing something more power to him. You don't have to agree with what he is saying, but you should give him credit for trying to make power moves.

As for the cover. Don't hate he is just trying to prove a point. Yes many people did die one september 11, 2001, but Paris talks a lot in his raps about bushes involvement in the terrorist attacks. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME A RAPPER HAS DEPICTED VIOLENCE ON THEIR ALBUM COVER!!! I DON'T SEE ANYONE HATING ON FOLKS THAT HAVE GUNS, BLOOD AND GUTS ON THEIR COVERS. So unless you are saying the samething for all the other artist that show acts of violence, YOUR THE hypocrite

I went to his site yesterday and I have to man up and retract my earlier response. But, do not catagorize me as saying Paris sold out though. And also, Paris is still one of my favorite artists, as said earlier,"Sleeping With The Enemy" being in my top 5 all time best albums.

I think what clouds one's judgement when talking about a cover like that is how deep of an impact that event had on America. I recently went to New York and saw the empty lot where the Trade Center once stood. I saw blocks and blocks of memorials, that is not a place of any sort of happiness.

WE are supposed to question and confront the government, it is our responsibility living in a democracy. The government is doing its best to oppress anyone with views that challenge the status quo. We need more people with controversial opinions to step up and be heard.

Question: Everyone who is all up in arms about this cover: What were your thoughts when "Sleeping With The Enemy" came out with the artwork depicting Paris about to smoke Bush? Did that ruffle your feathers?
none of the bush-loving suburbanites on this board who are getting upset about the cover heard of Paris before this post. you are asking an unanwerable question.

as for the cover - I think it's wrong to justify terrorism of any kind. Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are NOT fighting a righteous war against the US government, and the Bush Regime is not righteously fighting them.

They are two sides of the same coin, both right-wing ultra religious ruling class rich boys who used to have the SAME interests (remember when Reagan was Osama's biggest fan and Osama was Reagan's biggest fan?). Now that they are fighting each other, the innocents of the world will suffer, here and abroad, because both sides are absolutely gutless and bloodthirsty.

And I personally DONT think, like Paris does, that Bush was behind the 9-11 terrorism.

So I would NOT support the cover. I would support it if it was trying to justify a RIGHTEOUS REVOLUTIONARY attack on the Bush Regime, but not one that sympathizes in any way with Osama Bin Laden, who is the Middle East's version of Jerry Falwell in a Ku Klux Klan hood.

I have no problem with the cover. I don't believe he's supporting or advocating terrorism. I think he's making a visual statement for the fact that the United States isn't exactly loved and adored throughout the world. And since this is America and everyone is so hugs and kisses with patriotism these days, shouldn't his right to make that his cover be respected? Freedom of speech/expression is one of the things this country believes in, right?

Take it or leave it. I'll buy the album.

I've been e-mailing back and forth with him the past few days and he will be on the Siccness soon hopefully.
