yeah doggs. i just totally lied to one of niggs and told him that his music was pretty good and he had potential. i feel bad right now. but i dont know if id feel worse if i told him the truth. his music is pretty wack. sounds just like a typical local artist who has wack ass instrumentals and the his voice sounded like he was rapping outdoors. damm yo. and some of the beats on there was stuff that was on thel radio like 5 to 10 years go. i played him some of my wackest beats cuz i dont want to play the "good" ones cuz im afraid he might steal my ideas. most of the hot beats i made stay in a safe in along with all my baseball cards and comics n shit.

would about u liars out there? u guys ever told ur rapper or producer buddies that their music fuckin sucks donkey balls?
or are u guys too frightened to tell them garbage mutherfuckers the troof

I would have used some form of constructive criticism. Like, "You should do [x] with that beat so that it sounds more [x]", or, "You should use [x] technique so the vocals come out more clean", and basically avoid directly saying it's good or bad. Done.

I tell it like it is and I expect the same back.

I respect an honest opinion on my art/music more than anything... I don't want ya lyin to me.

If my friends beats whack I tell em it is... but for every shitty one theres like 3+ great ones.

YOU GOTTA GIVE THEM FEEDBACK...BUT IT'S SORTA HARD IF THEY GOT A BIG EGO OR CANT TAKE IT...

I SEEN ALOT OF CATS LIKE THAT...ESPECIALLY IN THE RAP GAME... EVERYONE IS A DIVA AND ACTS LIKE THEY PLATINUM ACTS.

Be brutally honest if you want them to progress, anyone who has passion in what they do will take that and build it into motivation to become better.

If they can't see that they suck then introduce them to rappers who are a million times better than them and they will realize they need to step their game up if they want to get anywhere.

I always appreciate criticism from my friends on shit I do. Its what makes me improve. I don;t make music, but I have an analogous hobby and the single factor that drove me to step my shit up and improve my game was when I was bragging to a guy who i really respect in the field and he laughed at me and told me I was no where close to where I thought I was and I needed to put a lot more work in before I was to the bragging level. Shit pissed me off and hurt my feelings and shit, but that motivated me to put in a gang of work. A couple years later I was talking to dude and I brought up the conversation and told him how much I appreciated his honesty and he told me that he felt like a total asshole saying that shit to me, but he thought I needed to hear it.

Cool story, breh, I know. But my point is you're doing your friend a favor by telling him his shit sucks if it does.

I hate "yes" men. People never tell me that my music is weak or ever have any legit criticism. If it's any sort of criticism, they usually have no idea what they're talking about in regards to music and just wish they were listening to Drake instead of me. But be honest with your boys, you owe them that much.
