Of course there is. The drugs you mentioned aren't anywhere as dangerous a crys. Crys will destroy a human being really fucking fast.
That argument about don't listen to it if you don't like is not valid. If a rapper comes out next and start rapping about molesting kids like it's cool, would yall say the same thing? So parents are supposed to be the fucking FBI and follow they kids around all day making sure there's no possible way they can listen to anything negative when 90% of the rap that comes out these days is, but rappers ain't responsible for what they say in their songs? Putting it all on the parents is a bullshit cop out. Of course it's the parent's job to raise their kids right, but doing it in a fucked-up ass environment where everything wrong, everything you don't want your kids to end up doing is what's valued and advertised 24/7 makes it a hell of a lot harder. And I know shit was fucked BEFORE rap, I know rap didn't create these social conditions, but guess what? It contributes to them. Things are getting worse.
Yall need to stop lying to yourselves and use your fucking head once in a while. It's basically IMPOSSIBLE for a parent to control everything they kids listen to, eespecially when they teenagers, and even if they do, the kids will end up rebelling against it and they might lose 'em. Y'all putting way too much weight on the parents' shoulders.
As a rap artist, I respect the fuck out of everything you just said right there.
I believe anybody can say ANYTHING they want, I really believe that...but there comes a time when you have to WATCH what you say because it may be detrimental to you or somebody else.
EVERYBODY in entertainment has a responsibility to the people they entertain. For one, even if you think this is wrong, you throw a concert, and somebody gets hurt, YOU are held responsible for that...that hangs over YOUR head! Feeeeeel me?
There's tons of shit that I've done in my life that I can justify, but I will never talk about it on a record because 1) That's just fuckin STUPID, and 2)There are kids listening that might think that because I did it, they can do it too. I see cats bitching about how fucked up their living conditions are, and they turn around and promote shit that fucks up ENTIRE COMMUNITIES, whether it be gun play or methamphetimines. In fact, one time I went to a concert, and dude was on stage talkin' about how the violence needs to stop...and then he goes into a song talkin' about shootin' up blocks and shit. The shit doesn't make sense.
Guce CAN say what he wants...I just wish he would join the growing club of artists that are trying to CHANGE the way things are in this country...starting with the next generation of kids. Rap is a social art...which means everything that you say, is a communication between you and the listener...so what you say WILL influence people, PERIOD!
