It seemed to be only a matter of time before the 49ers promoted Damane Duckett from the practice squad to the active roster. That move took place Tuesday, as the 49ers waived defensive lineman Roderick Green to make room for Duckett.
What sets Duckett apart is his size. He is 6-foot-6, 300 pounds. He is a very large man, and he made an impression during the two weeks he spent on the practice squad.
He has 14 games of NFL experience, playing six games in 2004 and eight games last season with the N.Y. Giants.
Duckett, 25, can play defensive end or defensive tackle. He should give the 49ers’ defense a little more strength against the run.
The 49ers also brought FB Zak Keasey back from the practice squad to take the spot vacated by Duckett’s promotion.
