Depending on the format of the file, it does. Most mp3's do lose some quality. Which is why some people release rips in lossless codecs (i.e. FLAC).
I'm aware of that. All MP3s lose quality, not just some. They are lossy codecs. The point I was trying to make is just because a CD is burnt has nothing to do with the quality of the audio contained on it. That's like saying music sounds better on one hard drive over another. It's all digital information, 1s and 0s.

The quality being talked about was sound output. The human ear won't notice loss on ALL mp3's. Burnt CD = mp3->CD, if you like it or not thats the definition by 99.9% of the population so thats what it is. This is bay area rap talk, not slashdot.

too bad that's not the defintion of a burnt CD. A burnt CD simply means duplication. Maybe 8 years ago you might have had a valid argument (your definition would still be wrong however) but with hard drive sizes and Internet speeds increasing, Lossless codecs like flac, alac, and ogg becoming more prevalent, The idea that burnt CDs just don't "slap as hard" Is just plain ignorant.

Btw I can tell the difference between 320 k mp3s and an aiff, lots of other people can too.
