first off, i Do understand promotion. Thats the point... at what point does it STOp being promotion, and just start being cats gettin over? feel me..

now u assume becuase i have 5 posts or somethin im some new kid...maybe i just changed my screen name to make this point.. ive been in the music industry 12 years, Ive seen and done more than most people here. im not here to diss the DJs and their hustle, im just seeing both sides.

my point is this..im seein more and more mixtapes that arent promotional tools (ie freestyles, exposing the artists, etc) and now seeing a lot of mixtapes that are just takin all the hot radio songs and just mixxin em and sellin em.. even if the artists album is out etc.. at what point does THAT still promote the artist? It aint New York where being on a Kayslay tape or a Whookid will elevate the statue of an artist, cuz no DJs out here have that name-value. So even mixed, ur still sellin another persons intellectual property. Takin food from independent artists and their families. Maybe a balance can be reached?

mustve touched a nerve for yall to get so riled up about. no need to get fiesty and talk ill...at least until u become the ACTUAL mixtape king. lol..just kiddin....just "breathin on the subject"

hmmmmmmmm

well from a artist point.i think mixtapes are good alot of cats dont have all the bread to drop a album right a way or pay for beats to get it done.so i think a new artist coming out trying to get heard can get new beats off the net and push them out to mixtape dj..
its a good outlet for cats that wanna get heard sence comps are played..

i think if cats do shit right the bay/cali can have a mixtape market just like ny.......

my 2 cents
