Agent Drew Rosenhaus said he expects talks with the San Francisco 49ers over a new contract for running back Frank Gore to "heat up" in the next few days. Those sentiments came shortly after Rosenhaus negotiated a six-year deal worth in excess of $32 million for running back Willis McGahee, traded from the Buffalo Bills to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.

McGahee was the third running back client of Rosenhaus to receive a new deal in the past week. Fred Taylor signed an extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars on March 1 and Thomas Jones got a new deal after being traded by the Chicago Bears to the New York Jets on Tuesday.

"Obviously, [contract talks for Gore have] to heat up after where the market has gone the past week for running backs," Rosenhaus said. All three deals were worth at least $20 million. The pacts were among 14 Rosenhaus negotiated or restructured for players in the last week

"You'd like to think that a deal for Frank is imminent," Rosenhaus said.

Perhaps, but Gore is just two years into his original five-year rookie pact. A third-round pick in 2005, Gore rushed for 1,695 yards on 312 carries last season for the 49ers.

But despite the obstacle of Gore having so much time left on his current deal, Rosenhaus seemed optimistic.

"The landscape for running backs has changed drastically in the past week and with the type of forward-thinking approach that the 49ers have, I would think they'll be interested in getting something done," Rosenhaus said.

drew is a cock.....and i doubt SF has big bucks to spend on gore....hes seeking the money at the wrong time after getting all those FAs.....keep in mind they have to have a couple mill under the cap to sign people during the season because of injurys and also draft picks.....i doubt he gets his money this year.....maybe a big bonus next year

Gore needs to produce the same season he had this year and he will get his money..... You dont throw millions of dollars, let alone guaranteed money, at someone who had 1 great season.....

Is Frank seeking a pay raise or is his agent????

The money of a 1st round pick and the first pick of the third round are alittle different.... plus the niners had to give alex smith a better deal then what eli manning or what philip rivers got, whoever actually got the 1st round pick money.......

Gore deserves a better deal, just look at his numbers. But i would wait one more year to see if he is consistent, dont just wanna hand him those millions after one good year.

I wouldn't be surprised if he holds out! He's a great back and if Gore has another breakout season like last year then he should deserve a pay raise, but as of right now he has only played one full season so who knows what will happen this upcomming year....

No, Gore needs to prove that last year wasn't a fluke, and when he does produce like he did last Year. Sign him to a 6 Year 30 Million with 8 Guaranteed.
