I ran into some trouble when I burnt a bunch of my beats to CD using Roxio. They came out hella pingy and they sounded like shit, no where near how they sounded while in Reason where i made them or in any of the media players on my computer. I dn't get it Roxio usually is great for mix cds and shit but my beats sounded terrible when i used it. I ended up burning another CD using windows media player and it sounded better but that programs records stuff at a lower level than things should be. Any suggestions??

Another thing, would something sound different in MP3 as opposed to a Wav. file? My reason beats are all wav files, if i converted them to MP3s using cool edit or something like that will they sound better? maybe a dumb question but I'm just trying to narow down the problem cuz that bad CD kinda messed up the chances of being on a compilation and thats not cool you know.

Use NERO for burning cd/dvd.

MP3 files are compressed audio, meaning you're losing audio information when you encode something to MP3. No, they won't sound better.

Also, if you have a severely fragmented harddrive, it can mess with your burns. You might want to double check that too.

I second that. But......

I also use Sonic Foundry's CD Architect program. I like using it for doin' show CD's and what not because you can totally customize your CD easily.....plus you can scan through your tracklist quickly and have the waveforms visible. That's one thing about NERO that sucks balls......it's a bitch to run through your tracklist and you have no visual.

defrag the hard drive and burn at the SLOWEST/LOWEST speed possible. Another thing to look into is media. I had an entire spindle of tdk cd-rs wig out on me. Every single disc sounded scratchy/dirty/warped. I've never heard of cd programs burning at different volumes. I have every program that has been suggested in this thread and they all burn at the same volume. I've never used windows media to burn so I can't comment on it.

I use easy cd creator 6 and have had no problems with it. Just curious what version were you using?

:hgk:

ps make sure you don't damage the TOP of the cd.

well I made a mix cd for my friend with roxio and it sounded fine but then for some reason when i tried to make the same one for myself it wouldn't work in roxio so i did it in windows media player and the same mix had to be played like 10 knotches higher to make it sound the same as the other one. I don't know the deal with that

I'm gonna have to get my hands on the cd creator 6 from what it looks like, its like 200 bucks though from what i saw online, it better be worth it.
