i think its a good move.

a lot of the younger talent gets playing time.

plus it frees up money for the warriors to re-sign monta ellis and andris beidrins

plus they still got stephen jackson, mikel peitrus, brandon wright (who actually gets to play now), kelena azabuke, matt barnes, al harington, plus they had a good draft.

anyways, how do we know b. diddy is gonna stay healthy? he has a history of being injured (other than last year). and elton brand only played in about 20 games this year. if they get hurt, which i'm guessing they will, the clippers are fucked. i still think the warriors got a squad to get to the playoffs.

Did he say he's signing or what? Today it said he hadn't signed any deal yet?
Free Agents can't officially sign until the 9th. He has a verbal agreement with them to sign and pretty much said in an interview his goodbye to the bay area. It was a business decision. He wanted to stay, but not for 2 years because after that he's 31 and would never get another big payday. I'm still in shock. Ticket prices go up and we're going in the wrong direction. I want Mullin to pull something off, but in my mind I know he can't cause he's an idiot.

I'm really disappointed with the news. It came as a shock 2 me. I didn't expect it nor did I see it comin'. I thought he had great chemistry on the court with the team and I thought he would help the Warriors (not just him) win a championship. At the end of the day though it is whut it is and I ain't mad at him 4 doin' whut he needs 2 do in his life. I'm still a Warrior fan and plan on attendin' more games regardless. I'll check 4 him 2 next season on the Clippers. He is a dope ball player no matter whut team he plays 4.

Report: Warriors wooing Brand with max offer

Will Baron Davis and Elton Brand end up trading jerseys?

After losing Davis to the Clippers, the Warriors are going after L.A.'s marquee free agent. Golden State has offered Elton Brand a maximum contract — more than the Clippers have proposed, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Warriors are smarting from the loss of Davis, who opted out of the final year of his contract and reached a verbal agreement Tuesday to sign with his hometown Clippers for five years and roughly $65 million.

The Clippers also were nearing a new deal with Brand, but the Warriors now have more salary-cap space than L.A. and can offer a five-year deal worth more than $100 million. They reportedly have made a similar offer to Wizards free-agent guard Gilbert Arenas.

No deal can be announced until July 9, when the NBA's moratorium on signings ends.

I'm pissed that he ain't in the bay, but Mullin wouldn't offer anything beyond a two-year extension and Baron was looking for at least four more years. It wasn't the price it was the length.
And barring any major injuries I don't know how four years of Baron in the Bay would've been bad.
All we needed was a solid backup point guard and shit woulda been all good last season

You know I was thinking out loud on Monday… "How does Elton Brand opt out of a $16.5MM deal coming off of Achilles surgery in a tough free agent market?” Something seemed very amiss. I didn’t quite put it together at that time but it became very clear to me the moment I heard Baron Davis had agreed to terms with the Clippers. My Warriors were Boom Dizzled!! We were done dirtier than Andrei Kirilenko! We’ve been bamboozled! Hoodwinked! One-Upped! PLAYED!!!!

Check this quote out:

“Clippers forward Elton Brand and swingman Corey Maggette also opted out of their contracts on Monday, but Los Angeles is expected to make a strong push to re-sign Brand, who also fancies himself a filmmaker. Brand said he plans to stay with the Clippers despite his decision, even if he must accept a contract below the NBA maximum for free agents.”

I’m not mad. I understand that Basketball is a business and I understand the Warriors didn’t offer him enough years. I’m just a little disappointed in the manner this was done. It is very clear that this was a backdoor deal that was in the works for some time. BD said all along that he wasn’t opting out. I can’t fault the guy for taking $65MM over $18MM, but don’t mislead the fans. Don’t mislead the ones who welcomed you in and made you feel like a Native Son when you were an outcast in N.O. Don’t bluff us like a game of high stakes celebrity poker! Don’t mislead your teammates, the guys you went to war with…I wonder how Stack-Jack is feeling right now. I know how Nellie is feeling…Baron promised to be in Maui playing golf with Nellie as the point guard of the Warriors! I wanna see how much he likes playing for a coach who is not Nellie. About as much as he liked playing for Byron Scott, maybe?

In the immortal words of Christopher Williams “We make promises…promises…we don’t keep!”

I don’t blame the Warriors. Honestly. I have the utmost trust in Chris Mullin. He hasn’t steered us wrong yet. If Gary St. Jean was still the GM, I would have been all over this, but consider: Baron is 29 years old with the knees of a 35 year old. I’d say he has a very very good 3 years left with a fourth and fifth that will be so-so and time to go. With the youth the Warriors have, they couldn’t afford to lock up Baron for 5 years. I mean he played 82 games for the first time in four years last year and was running on empty for the last 10-12 games culminating in a bench riding in the playoff deciding game. So from that standpoint I understand the Warriors thinking in not wanting to offer him 5 years. Also we have Ellis and Biedreins to worry about.

I love BD, he brought us back our swagger and I’ll forever be grateful to him for that but I can’t lie and say I didn’t lose a little love for him with what has transpired. I’ll do my best not to bag on the spider-nest waves and Grizzly Adams beard when he comes to The “O-Rena.” I said I’ll try!! Maybe he would have fit in better with Memphis! He could have been the starting PG and the Mascot!! Damn it! I did it already!!

First off pietrus sucks and he def will not be back in a Warriors uni next year, hes a Free Agent...second giving baron 65 mil for 5 years guaranteed is ludacris for somebody who is injury prone and getting older (with no rings) ....third we now have 40 mil in cap space to sign all our young talent as well as any potential FA's...word is we are trying to pry elton brand from LA, we can offer him more than the clippers can now due to the Davis signing. When I mean more I mean we supposedly offered somewhere around 85 to 90 mil for 5 years and the most LA can do is 70 mil. Reguardless, we can now go shopping, only after we sign all the FAs we are going to will I judge Chris Mullin. I think he learned from the Dunleavy, Foyle, Murphy signings from his first year as GM in that you have to be very cautious who u decide to give max dollars to.

And lets be honest, yes Baron helped bring Bball back to the bay, but that nigga ain ever won shit in his career except a first round playoff series. If he demands top dollar he better perform like he deserves it. Meaning he better last all year long and not get tired at the end. MJ, Lebron, kobe, kg all play huge minutes and werent tired at the end of the year.
