One day after locking up their new starting power forward, the Warriors have come to terms with potentially their new starting small forward.

And it may mean goodbye to sharp-shooting guard Anthony Morrow.

According to multiple sources, the Warriors have reached an agreement with Miami Heat unrestricted free agent Dorell Wright. The deal is for three years and just shy of $11 million.

The Warriors had been in the market for a true small forward, meaning someone with adequate size and skill. They also wanted a veteran still in his prime but able to fit under the $5.765 million midlevel exception, which is all the Warriors have to offer free agents.

But after adding an offensive-minded player in power forward David Lee — whom the Warriors acquired from New York on Friday — it was especially important that Golden State get a defensively capable small forward.

Wright, who came to the pros from South Kent Prep High in Connecticut, was at the top of the Warriors' list of options. He is 6-foot-9, 210 pounds and played the past six seasons with Miami, which selected him 19th overall in the 2004 NBA draft. Wright's best season was in 2007-08 when he averaged 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25.1 minutes.

A knee injury limited Wright, 24, to six games in 2008-09. But he returned last season, averaging 7.1 points and 20.8 minutes in 72 games, then averaged 22.4 minutes in five playoff games.

Wright's arrival could mean Morrow, who received a three-year, $12 million offer sheet from New Jersey. A Warriors source said the team will weigh its options if and when it gets an offer sheet for Morrow.

Morrow is expected to sign the offer sheet from New Jersey on Monday, giving the Warriors seven days from that point to match. But with Wright and Reggie Williams under contract at small forward, and Monta Ellis and Charlie Bell under contract at shooting guard, there would be little room for Morrow — perhaps not enough to justify giving Morrow $4 million per season.

That means Morrow — who went from undrafted in 2008 and headed overseas, to the Warriors' summer league team, to becoming one of the most accurate 3-point shooters in the NBA — will likely become a Net.

The Warriors still have designs on signing a backup point guard — possibly restricted free agent C.J. Watson.

Goddammittt...

Udoh update: The Warriors won't announce the extent of No. 6 overall pick Ekpe Udoh's left wrist injury until they get a second opinion Monday. Early indications, however, are that Udoh will need surgery and will miss 4-6 months.

"It's unfortunate, but I've got to take it," Udoh said. "It's hard on me, but I've got a chance to learn the offense and work on my body until I can come out and show what I can do on the court."

I was watching kron dis morning and they said that the talks between Monte and oj mayo have began. Is that true?
Mayo would be dope in Nellie's system. I would only do the deal if Ronnie Brewer and a pick were included. We'll be trading Ellis to a team that we will compete against for the 8th seed...

Warriors would be stupid not to match Morrow's offer, 3 yr 12 mil is cheap as fuck. Look at what Redick got, 3 and 20! Korver got 3 and 15. Morrow shits on both of them, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Morrow will entering his 3rd season...

This is turning out to be a disaster......I didnt see any of the moves we made coming....David Lee is Solid im not gonna argue that...But we gave up a Randolph, who i thought had way to much upside.....

Dantoni is gonna let Randolph loose in NY....Sure he made mistakes...But he was young, we were rebuilding and when Nelson sat him on the bench his rookie year..Would have been a good time to let him do what he does and learn....But no, he sat around the whole fuckin time and now hes gone...

Bukke was starting to be an aggressive role player...IMO they should have sent Morrow to NY in that deal instead of Bukke.....Morrow didnt impress me much.....He was flat footed on defense....And always reaching...

What is our roster looking like as of now.....Ill Never forgot Turiaf window washing Kobe's layup last year either.....
Dont be so negative. Every move so far has improved the team, or at least streamlined a glut of players at posistions. The W's traded oft injured Kelena, Turiaf who's plus sides are negligible, and Randolph, who the only positive thing you can say is that he might be good someday...all for an allstar 20-10 guy, thatll grab a bunch of offensive rebounds, which was one of the W's weakest points, and maybe more importantly wants to be on the team. You cant say "They should have traded abc instead of xyz" because thats not the deal NY would have taken, it would be nice to trade all their crappy bench and summer league players for Kobe, but thats not a deal that would happen.

I dont mean all this directly at you, but everybody on this thread is so negative, and way too concerned about the past or things that never happened. What you have now is Ellis and Curry, two of the hottest commodity G's in the league, D-Lee an allstar that fits into the system, and a healthy Biedrins, who proved when he's healthy like in 07 into 08 can be a productive player, and adding wright compliments the team, and as far as a loss, youre losing Morrow whos really only proved he sucks at handling the ball. Personally I think they'd be better off without Ellis, and if they could move him in a way that could land andre iguodala in golden state you would certainly be a postition to push into the playoffs, and still be in a place to build.

^^^ Andre Iguodala?

I understand the reasoning (size wise), but other than that, he's one of the most overrated players in the league.

What does he do?

Most importantly size/defense. Ellis/Curry is too small of a combination to seriously compete, especially into the playoffs in the west. I'd say he's underrated defensively, he can gaurd most of the other gaurds, and he's a smart player which is important against other high IQ gaurds like Kobe. He's a good passer, and he's a guy that can hit game winning shots if need be. He makes some poor decisions, but on a Nellie team, with Curry being the faster score at will player the oppurtunity for those kinds of mistakes would decrease. I like Ellis, its not like Im in "trade him at all costs" mode, Im willing to give Ellis/Curry another season to see what they can work out with a healthy team around them. But I think Iguodola bumps the teams all around ability up, and its a move the 76er's would also be interested in since Ellis is such a quick scorer. The biggest turnoff would be the W's taking on the cost of Andre, and thats proably a bigger concern now after shelling out for Lee.

You'd be giving up some points per game, which you could argue is being made up for with Lee. And gaining rebounds and a bigger defensive presence, and with such similar assist numbers, it comes down to if you'd give up Ellis ability to steal the ball, for a more all around defensive player. I'd say since you have Curry, and Lee with all the other complimentary players that can score, Id be willing to give up Ellis.

lol @ a Mayo for Monta straight up deal

Mayo is NOT on Monta's level
not even close. monta is way stronger on defense too, while also being better on offense.

management just gonna fuck as much shit up before the team sold.

dont be surprised if the next trade rumor is steph curry for some scrub like derek fisher.

What you're giving up is the match up advantage that Monta creates. Opposing teams don't gameplan around Iguodala but they do gameplan around Monta. But all this comes down to what sort of system ends up being implemented.

Again, Iguodala is overrated. He got the rep for being a good defender for like a second, but he's really not that good. He's a rich man's Pietrus, if that.

iggy sucks, stop. ur a proven monta hater.

iggy isnt even a guard, he doesnt have the footspeed or lateral quickness. hes an overrated small forward that can barely score and gets lost in big games because hes not a number 1 or 2 option.

keep ellis, sell the team.

I may not be the biggest Ellis fan, but saying he should get traded for the right player isnt spiteful, its for the improvement of a team that only won 26 games...Part of why they lost so many games was they gave up too many points, andre would address that, he is a bigger presence on defense then ellis, who doesnt give a shit about d unless he's goin head up for a steal...can barely score, what, 17 ppg isnt fabricated out of nothing...it isnt a matter of "sell the team, keep ellis" not a ton of people are interested in buying a last place team, and when it happens regardless of who buys them theyre looking at ellis as a bargaining chip, dude doesnt want to be in GS to begin with.
