It wasn't as much of a shot at St. louis as you think, from what Tech, and Kutt told me its more of a statement of sorts, that there is another side to Missouri, because you would be suprised to know how many people don't even think Kansas City is in Missouri. He wrote the song in Sacramento, shortly after a show in Las Vegas, where the chicks there, knew they were from the MO but noticed that there was no accent, hence the line, "we hit the strip and I can tell that they know we aint from here, we never say herrr, when I'm speaking my tongue's clear." I don't know how many of you remember Tech doing a show in Ft. Wayne Indiana last year, but the night before that show, myself, Kutt, and Ms. Dean and some other folks were at Satin, when he gave me a copy of the song, I thought the exact same thing you did, strangely enough that show in Indiana was with, Ludacris, and Chingy. I told Kutt I thought it would be great theatre, if they would let Tech do that verse accapella, so them cats from the Stl could here it, and possibly spark some kind of rivalry of sorts, but I was then informed that, it wasn't really a shot, just a verse intended to let people know that we aint like them, we are different.
The actual goldberg idea came from the verse that tech wrote in a song that Tech did with Revenue records, that I don't think was ever completed.
